You can raid with your guild and earn gear, GDKP runs don’t affect you. Hardly a P2W game, but I agree lets get farming bots banned.
Thanks for the replies everyone! It helps to get a better idea of what to expect in TBC. Going into Classic, I had no idea botting, boosting and gold buying would be so prevalent. I will still play TBC because I have a good guild and good friends to play with. I’m going to take the advice of many here and try to avoid the toxic gameplay and focus on just having fun with my guild and friends. I just hope Blizzard does its job and referees this game. Any game needs a referee, any game needs a rule enforcer. Please Blizzard, if you are listening, referee your game!
Doesn’t matter because the illegitimate players have ruined the economy as well. you can’t avoid them without putting them on their own server completely segregated. It’s not as simple as don’t play with them.
Yet again we can see the single cause at the core of this issue is raiding.
Buying gear doesn’t make you good at the game though.
Illicit gold sellers existed 15 years ago, gdkp existed a long time ago, just players attitude has changed.
Ruined is a bit strong a word for it. The economy has been damaged and made it harder for those who don’t buy gold to farm for it and to buy things in the AH. But the game is still fun for me and those of us who don’t buy gold and play normally. At any rate it’s clear after all this time it’s not going to change, not in classic, not in BC. We just have to accept that and decide if the damage is too much to continue playing. For me it is and will be in BC.
[CLASSIC HAS BECOME P2W, WILL TBC AS WELL?]
Answer: Yes.
There are other teams though. Ignoring things does not make them go away you dolt lol. They still affect the environment you are in. Dont like the smell of burning plastic, bah well just ignore that local mill! You have a team of like minded players on your own server or something?
Wait for the reddit post when Ashes of Alar goes for 1 mill gold
If Fadeleaf is 100g a stack why don’t you go farm some Fadeleaf and fix all your problems?
See people like you like to whine about things without ever looking for solutions, even when the answer is right infront of your face.

Well put OP, we are blaming a game with no referee, Blizzard really has alot to answer for.
I don’t like pay to win games
To a degree that’s all games now days because of " RMT services", yes even in Retail even if there were no such thing as gold traders. (Yes they still exist in Retail)
RMT is most common in retail, actually worse than in Classic if you can imagine it. They are most common selling boosts are for Achievements, Mounts, and Titles like Gladiator in Arena and Grand Marshal / High Warlord in RBG.
This is has kinda been a thing and a problem since about Mid WoD, not sure why it became so popular here but this is when it became rampant, and maybe its just the times, maybe morality is at an all time low? Maybe Blizzard just does not care at all any more…

Well… no. That’s exclusively MMOs, really, and other competitive games that allow it. League of Legends or Valorant have no P2W elements as it’s purely cosmetic.

Oh I do. Sometimes, if Im lucky, Ill actually find a node or two over the course of a couple of hours. Its difficult with all my servers unguilded hunters with exotic pet names that are online 24/7.
Ive offered to help them level since theyve all been stuck in the mid 40’s for months now but they seem intent on just running the same path over and over again and never talking to me.

In Retail even Blizzard is a gold trader.
Go into SM, farm the fade leaf in there.
Come out, reset instance, farm it again.
You can do that 5 times in 1 hour.
Do you just…not understand how inflation works?
Dailies = more easy money in economy = higher prices = having a bigger number of gold is the same as having a smaller number of gold before in buying power.
lol
it will be the same.
It’s mostly because Blizzard gave up and stopped enforcing anything.
Any company that actually cared about their game would end all the gold buying and selling and achievement selling yesterday.
Blizzard barely even has active GMs. They fired most of them and now there’s hundreds of bots running around on every server.
Blizz knows how to fix all of these problems because they already had measures to prevent them in vanilla wow in 2004. They just don’t want to because they’re just milking the IP for cash for minimal expenditure for Bobby’s bonus and don’t give a sh!t.
All the people who made WoW great like Tigole and Rob Pardo are long gone and now you have obviously incompetent idiots like Ion running the show.
