Classic has become P2W, will TBC as well?

First came the botting, then the boosting, now GDKPs. I’ve come to realize that all aspects of the game have become pay to win. I could buy gold and get all the levels, gear, and consumables I could want. I can now open my wallet to achieve all my Classic goals. I don’t like pay to win games. I like to work hard for a goal. I like to grind. The grind becomes meaningless if I know I can just open my wallet and arrive at my destination. If you like pay to win games, fine. I’m not here to judge you based on how you play a video game.

I know that I don’t want to play pay to win games. I have been excited about TBC, I have started to level new toons in preparation for TBC. But if TBC becomes a pay to win game like Classic has, well I should probably reconsider my gaming future. So what do you think? Do you think Botting, boosting and GDKPs will become a core part of TBC the way they have become in Classic?

If you don’t like the pay to win aspect of WoW, then don’t do it? Join a team of like-minded players who also feel the same.

It’s one of the reasons I stopped playing Classic OP, I think my sub expires here in a few days, hell it might already have ended, I just don’t log in anymore due to that exact same problem.

Everyone I knew in my raid guild bought gold and preferred to do GDkPs…everyone, except an older lady.

So I asked myself, why doesn’t Blizzard just let us use your debit cards to buy our gear, mounts, etc?
It’s literally no different, except Blizzard isn’t complicit in it, because let’s be honest, if they could solve it, they would. But it makes no difference, it’s still p2w.

My only hope is that since TBC is 25 player max, and the raids are a lot tighter tuned that this won’t be as big of an issue. I don’t remember much of this kind of BS going on in TBC, but different times and all…

Of course it will. Its the only way. You cant farm gold anymore, everything is gone before you get there. I go herbing before work which is 530am (330am server) and everything is gone. I get one or two things maybe if I am lucky. Once I found a black lotus in 9 months. If I play TBC, I will have to buy gold. Blizzard is forcing my hand to do so.

The only reason why classic has become P2W is because of Blizzard’s lack of enforcement of their own terms of service, their poor implementation of classic, and their unwillingness to maintain the game to the same quality as other Blizzard games.

If this is the same company that’s making the TBC version of classic you can bet that Blizzard’s attitude will be more of the same and so… yes it will also become low key P2W.

Yes, with or without mass gold buying and bots.

classic is not pay to win. blizzard will ban you if it catches you buying gold. its always the same thing with these topics. “this game contains metas i dont like. its not my fault i dont like them”

… do you honestly believe otherwise?

Do you think this is about how he plays individually? Isn’t he obviously talking about the game environment?

That’s like saying, “If you don’t like the three-point shot then don’t do it?” even though the three-pointer is an integral part of the game.

Honestly, some of you just argue for the sake of doing so.

Dear lord, do you think Blizzard is actually making a conscious effort to stop people? You’re living in a dream world, Neo.

thats not the point. his logic is based off an assumption that everyone shares his opinion. which in itself sets his argument up to be paradoxical

my world consists of facts, something many people seem to be caring less and less about nowadays

It’s going to be worse in TBC. Forget ever finding a node in the world with the army of druids flying in a circle to every node in a huge train all day every day. The cheap Argentinan accounts don’t help the case. It’s like why wouldn’t you not bot 24/7 for $3 a month.

The evidence can be gotten by just sitting in town watching chat for a week. Look at how common GDKP runs are.

how does gdkp runs being common make the argument “wow is pay to win” factual?

P2W = Pay to make your character stronger than it otherwise would be. Since people been buying gold and then buying gear in GDKPs, it fits. We know people are buying gold because if there wasn’t a market for it, the game wouldn’t be infested with bots. We know high ticket items are going for more gold than is reasonable to have been aquired in a purely legitimate economy. Thus all the evidence points to WoW being P2W.

blizzard will ban you if it catches you buying gold. thats how this goes. you can say they dont enforce it all you want but at the end of the day its their official policy to ban players who trade real world money for in game items or currency ect. remember, your argument is being based off your feelings, whereas my argument is based off of facts. im not worried about what i need to explain because its all already out there ready for me to cite if you want me to

It’s meaningless if something is against policy on paper if it isn’t enforced in practice. Kinda like how money has no value if the people have no faith in it. See the countless examples of economic collapse and runaway inflation for real world demonstrations.

Hence my comment…

And your 3 point comparison works perfectly.

Don’t like taking 3 point shots? Don’t do it, and find a team of like minded players who also don’t want to take those shots. Boom. No more 3 pointers in your game.

See how easily that works?

Consumables have always been a thing, and those are the biggest gold drain. So yes, it’s always been P2W.
