Classic Hardcore and Griefing

Bro… it’s not that deep.

This is what vanilla was from my memory… there isn’t much content so people created ways of playing and messed with those people that took it too seriously. Is it frustrating? Sure… but if you can’t laugh about it after it’s over, you are the problem.

Also I am a retail player enjoying some HC, I will be messing with people… why? Because it’s fun.

How so? I get it’s probably fun for you, but what do you get out of it? If you cause another player to start over, why is that fun? I’m not mocking here, I’m genuinely curious.

I get a laugh.

Chaos.

Probably a little bit of just not being a nice person.

Reflection of society currently it seems then. Rather disappointing. I’d love to turn the clock back to the 60’s. Enjoy your day. :smiley_cat:

Enabling left click to interact (literally) saves lives. Not that I don’t believe he got griefed, just saying that I laugh at stealthed rogues on FPs cuz if I accidentally click them I just target them.

solution : remove aspect of the cheetah or feign death, or both. confining a mob to it’s starting zone is not going to stop the griefing hunters, removing their class will

Just logged back into the forum and find I cannot escape discussion (what my tween boys call tantrums now). But it’s cool since you got the answer already.

Now since it’s a RP server he could also be seeking grooming tips from the magnificently bearded Gyll the Flight Master and people are griefing Iqchecker with their constant interruptions!

Let others play their game. Isn’t that what you keep asking that hardcore folk be allowed to do? Since you are a new resident of BsB let me enlighten you: pvp happens on a RP server. Always has and should continue. Y’all need to be looking into this new fangled gittin gud thing. Just go into your options and check the box for interacting with left click then use it. Stop blaming others for your mistakes and play the game.

You are now my favorite gnome.
Even before CookieGnome in the retail forum.

omg you can do long distance magic!
You made iced coffee come out my nose.

70’s baby.
They had a better groove.

You answered your own question

Speaking of no particular person in this thread, but rather to somewhat address the nature of the question you’ve raised.

I’ve spent a LOT of time (in my occupation) over a number of years around what we’ll just call “bad people” (not criminals btw, just harassment inclined people). People that go out of their way to bring grief and troubles to people that otherwise just want to live and let live.

What I can tell you is that many such people are of such poor personal quality that the reason they both act as they do and will vocalize who/what they are in an unashamed public manner, is because “low personal quality” includes their innate ability to see and understand what quality is within people. They cant see themselves.

Imagine having no noteworthy comprehension of the idea of hygiene, now imagine how filthy that persons behaviors and lifestyle would be.

To people that understand the concept its an alien experience.

My advice, start reporting these people in mass. There are more people that want a live and let live gaming experience than there are “people that don’t understand hygiene”.

You dont have to experience a rules violation (see things like : “zone disruption” and “game exploit”, when game features are used outside their clearly intended design) in order to make a valid report of said violation(s). Feel out your friend group, guilds, etc for people that are “fed up with it”.

EX: When you see someone dragging mobs into an area they were never clearly designed to be in, in order to screw with the play experience of other players (see: “zone disruption”) – report them (your entire group).

If you want to “clean up” a neighborhood, you need to find one another, organize, act as a group and make “cleaning things up” a crusade.

1 sub BY ITENT screwing with other players (and violating game rules) Vs 30 + subs with clean accounts that are fed up with trouble players. Who do you think Blizz is going to want to appease?

people are going to challenge every death at some point as people will make up rules in their own head while it is considered a grief death to them, Streamers and people who record their game play 24/7 are going to argue probably every death and make the addon be more flexible, its hardcore, should be if you die you die your done, Grief or non grief, if you get killed by a player who decided to create a name similar to a mob or npc, well dont tab target or watch what you click… If blizzard does decide to make a hc server, and they go with all these suggestions, will it even be considered hardcore? everyone is getting to soft and weak complain about every little thing. Its like joining a pvp server and complain about when someone kills you while questing.

Death in a hardcore game has always been unapologetic, whether you die to a disconnect, game glitch, or other people if the rules are structured in a way where pvp death counts. It is always in a warning when creating a character, as it would just eat up needless resources to moderate that style.

Griefing related though, if a hardcore server exists, just make sure its in the rules that the behavior is not tolerated there and make it reportable/bannable, just like it is with an RP server having wrong naming conventions or other behavior etc. Simple as that in my opinion. Then there is no excuse for that behavior and people that do it can’t complain that they didn’t know it was a reportable offense. They can do that on their own PvE or PvP servers.

Unfortunately the griefing that people are reporting on the RP-PVE server Bloodsail Buccaneers is largely self-inflicted and preventable.
It’s not griefing. This kind of stuff happened on BsB prior to the arrival of the streamer hordes and softies cried then too. Dry your eyes and focus on what you are doing.
Situational awareness saves your one life.

I personally don’t care either way lol. But if people want to define it however they want, just make it an enforceable rule for the server is all I’m saying. No tears in my eyes lol, its just a game to me.

Apologies on not clarifying that my use of “you” is in the general sense in this case.
If it hasn’t been actionable on BsB in the past, it shouldn’t be now.

IF there is a new HC mode server dropped, I still believe that Blizz should be mostly hands off and not throw out a hard list of rules that differs greatly from other PVE servers save that all forms of resurrection are disabled. But we shall see if Blizz wants to wade into that morass.

I definitely agree that BsB should not be subject to any “new” rules, as it is an RPPvE server. The fact people are adopting it as hardcore is at their own peril lol. 100% in agreement there.

Doesn’t really compare to a video game challenge but I laughed at your analogy

Level 2 orc rogue on the flight master in Booty Bay this eve. Very easy to hear on my 22.
Pointed at him, mocked his foolishness, laughed, and blew him a kiss as I flew away. It’s an RP server after all.
Still trying to understand how someone could miss these clowns.

Hot Take: Hardcore griefing adds spice and people just like to pretend that it’s a big deal when it really isn’t.

Hey… if they’ve gotten one person, they’ve already won.

I think it’s hilarious when I see on the app that someone died to town guards LOL. I love seeing the griefing videos too, Korone HC I think his name is on youtube. Top notch 10/10.
