Because they don’t want to be proven wrong because the huge majority will be playing the gdkp server.
You believe that the solution to stop cheaters who do not follow the rules is to make another rule that they won’t follow?
Interesting.
Aren’t the overwhelming majority of classic players playing on era doing GDKP? Looks like you didn’t do you homework.
Looks like they won’t be doing it in fresh.
So much for hOmeWOrk
Era also has the smallest raiding pop of all versions currently offered and smaller pop than those other servers that ban GDKP. Perhaps your “homework” didn’t cover that lol
GDKPers don’t deserve their own server. How ridiculously entitled are you to think that you deserve your own server because of a loot system that is completely marred by real money transactions? The fact of the matter is, Blizzard is not willing to have a complete no tolerance policy with gold selling and botting. They don’t even employ GMs anymore. This is their quickest solution to dealing with widespread economic devastation on a new server. As soon as dirty gold starts getting distributed to thousands of players via GDKPs, the economy instantly goes into shambles.
I have seen this to its completion in Wrath of the Lich King where people took over 5 million gold per account into Cataclysm. Do we really want that in TBC classic in a year? I say no.
Edit: you know what, I take it back. You guys should have your own server and all the bots should be there with you. Anything to keep that crap off my server.
If people can’t earn their gold by taking their skill into a gdkp raid they will go buy gold… The idea that banning gdkp stops bots and gold farmers is a paradox.
There is a great demand for gdkp raids on era bc the median age is high and people have busy lives. If they don’t have the time to farm gold for an epic mount etc. and can’t get the gold from a gdkp they will swipe.
By banning gdkp blizzard is creating gold buyers. The game can not be played to its full potential without gold
If one person swipes, that’s a small problem. If 20 people swipe, and that gold gets distributed to 40 people, that’s a big problem. Like I stated in my post before, having hundreds if not thousands of people with multiple characters at gold cap going into the next expansion has far-reaching effects on the game economy. Banning GDKPs keeps that from happening. If a guy is buying 3,000 gold for his mount and consumables, it’s not going to destroy the economy. If guys are buying hundreds of thousands of gold over the course of a year and distributing it to other players as they bid on raid loot, it’s a much bigger problem than what you’re describing with consumables and mounts.
So you’re saying I’m better off breaking the rules and buying 3k gold instead of earning the gold by playing the game.
I’m in civil service I have different days off every week, I work 11 pm to 7 am and I’m not even going to get into my personal life.
I have not been able to be a part of a guild for 12 years. No guild will prio a part timer a spot in raid and sure as hell won’t prio loot.
Being apart of a gdkp community is my only option and I secure my spot by being an extremely valuable player. I can raid with different guilds this way every week.
This ban makes the game unplayable for adults with families and unorthodox work schedules.
It’s impossible to keep up with the community trying to find a pug soft res every week that will full clear.
Gdkp ban is why I quit sod. Finding random pug raids is not fulfilling.
You’re punishing a massive raid community because of a small percentage of swipers that get in.
The idea that the game should allow P2W because a couple players with confidence issues don’t have time to get everything on day one is comical. Even people with busy lives can get everything from Classic WoW, it just takes time and they may not have it when its current. Why in the world would a game developer cater to people that don’t want or have the time to play their game? So silly.
The swipers will venmo guild leaders now and gdkp communities won’t be able to play the game. The swipers aren’t going anywhere.
It’s not pay to win. It’s a community of people going through the content every single week with each other. We’re not spawning more gear into the game by bidding on the loot
Pay to win is I will AFK at the entrance because I paid the guild leader
The time it takes puts you massively behind to a point that you can not compete with weekly guild raiders
You’re scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for pugs because you have no raid community.
This is what mature gamers should do, not every game is for everyone. There are even versions of WoW that cater to those that do not have the time required to play the Classic iteration. Hope you find one you enjoy!
Cheers!
So they should make the game unplayable for someone who can clear all the end game content but can’t allocate the time to farm their own consumes and accumulate the gold for enchants?
Allowing gdkps doesn’t effect guilds but banning gdkps alienates an entire community that can only play that way.
Saying it’s better for the economy, yes. I think they should ban all gold sellers and gold buyers. But if there is a lesser of evils it’s someone buying gold for consumables over people distributing botted gold to 40 raiders. Do you not see the difference?
The problem there is intent. 20 raiders buying gold for consumes is bad and bad for the economy it creates demand for gold sellers. There are people distributing their gold in the raid that they farmed organically. We’re not forming the gdkp with the intent of finding gold buyers
