Answer a very simple question:

Do you have a gold counter on your backpack tab. Yes or no.

Easiest way to resolve this issue without entirely going “Fresh” would be to transfer characters, equipment, Mounts, and quest items but nothing else. No gold, no consumes, and no boe’s that haven’t already been equipped. At that point then introduce wow tokens which will put all the gold sellers and bots out of business. Also introduce a range of Vanity Items in game that require large sums of gold to purchase. This will take gold out of the economy as a whole and help to keep inflation down.

Counting how much gold a given character has is not a sign of scarcity, it’s a way to count how much a given character has in their possession.

Scarcity, as it applies to physical currency, means said currency is limited in circulation. When physical currency is created, a limited amount is produced and circulated. This is what the term scarcity means as applied to currency.

Video game economies do not suffer from scarcity as in-game currencies are in no way limited, the currency is infinite, you simply need to acquire it. This is why in-game inflation gets so bad so quick, players/characters acquire more and more wealth without the natural control of limited supply.

You will never run out of currency in WoW. As long as the servers are up, there will be currency to acquire.

There are seasonal “FRESH” servers already in existence called Season of Mastery.

The classic era servers you are complaining about are where all the retired seasonal server players end up when the season is over.

You are asking for Season of Mastery 2. What you want already exists; it just isn’t out yet.

Answer the question. Do you have a gold counter on your backpack. Yes or no.

Literally everyone in the game has a gold counter. The question has no bearing on the topic.

LOL YOU SAID THIS BEFORE, AND IT DIDNT WORK. LITERALLY 1 MONTH IN AND THE ENCOMENY MATCHED ALL THE OTHER SERVERS. WE JUST NEED A GOLD WIPE.

Correct.

Incorrect. The very fact that there is a counter means your gold supply is finite. Any object which has finite supply is subject to the laws of scarcity and abundance.

Any commodity that is scarce has higher value. Any commodity that is abundant has lower value. As a scarce commodity becomes less scarce it inherently becomes less valuable. This is basic economics.

Gold buyers keep RMT propped up. RMT demand drives botting. Botting, amongst other things, creates raw gold. And does so at rates no player could ever DREAM of matching, purely by nature of being automated.

The more raw gold exists, the less buying power all other gold retains. Quite literally identical to real world inflation mechanics. When the money printer goes brrrrr, the money is worth less per piece because there are more pieces.

You can draw a direct comparison to the skyrocketing cost of living in the US and the cratering buying power of the dollar due to $9T being printed from 2020 to now and 4 years of unchecked, 24/7/365 botting on Era realms creating a constant flow of raw gold at rates no player can match since 2019.

The mechanics of the two are identical beyond the method of currency creation, as are the consequences (everything costs significantly more). This isnt something that can be rationally disputed.

Yeah, I knew that was your goal. Your logic is flawed here and it’s sad you can’t see why.

You need to stop thinking. It doesn’t make you look good.

I like that you skipped over the entire post just to try going for a snarky zinger like you were gonna accomplish something. You were smart enough to accept you couldnt factually dispute a word i said, but too arrogant to let someone else get the last word.

Thanks for playing.

Lol. Your post was garbage. It’s obvious you don’t understand the difference in a game economy and a real economy.

Who’s trying to go for a snarky zinger?

Wrong.

The economy of som wasn’t nearly as hilarious as era is rn.

Did you even play? If you did why are you blatantly lying

this is exactly the reason that I’m rerolling on a private server. cant compete with bots. wont buy gold. dont have geared 60s that have already cleared content. the lesser of evils.

i didnt say anything about som. frostfire wanted tbc fresh servers, got em, economy matched all the other servers, that server died out, Wotlk, same thing, he asked for em, servers matched, server died out.

can you guess whats gonna happen next if classic fresh servers come out? server price matches modern servers, server dies out. reskinning the same mount a slightly different color doesn’t give you a brand new mount.

There is nothing to fret about since in Dec when they are going to release fresh to all current classic ERA servers the problem will be solved. All current chars will be wiped and we will be getting our fresh servers again! Cannot wait to reroll on a fresh mankrik!

dumb question but is this confirmed or just wishful thinking?

so start crafting for easy profit.

Bots and gold selling will always be a thing.

You wanna know what won’t be a thing? Goblin rocket boots costing 300g on a seasonal server that ends. 100g stacks of pots, 100g stack of nightfin soup. This has never been seen before until era, a server that never ends.

And again, for all you people in the back, a fresh is MEANT to end. Not last forever. Thats the entire point. the point isnt even about economy - that has very little to do with it
