Classes gutted

People were still vetted. It was called gear score back then instead of ilvl.

So you did what he said to do and made yourself stand out by helping players. Can still do that. I throw my btag out on the forums and help people all the time

All classes and all comps are viable to get the top end rewards. Dont even need lust or Bres

Takes no more than 5-10 minutes

I don’t think I agree. I think what makes games fun is the effort we put into them. For some games thats difficulty. For MMO’s thats usually time.

I dunno, as someone who plays less than you, I think your wrong.

Why do you keep ignoring that the 1% is literally bragging rights?
I can pull up IO right now and see ~30% are getting the gear you are complaining about. If 30% are the "elites… what are the 1% What are the .1%?

And baddies need everythinf handed to them to feel any self worth.

Pot meet kettle

Haxx0rs!

Here is a very recent time sink.
The level of gratification from this was amazing.
1-2 hours a day, around 8 hours total.

But that’s also focusing on the fun and eventual reward vs instant gratification.

Must be. Or…

I don’t touch reddit and am barely on the forums. At this point I have a migraine and I get what you are saying and stuff. But like sheesh I did heroic pugs in wrath of the lich king on my old account that got hacked. And we got through it was possible for me. Idk i’m not really pessimistic. I am a realist. There are alot of things I like about this game. I just feel like it is going in a direction that isn’t for me. AND that’s is okay. It will be okay for you other players who prefer it this way. It’s okay for me to leave and voice my opinion. It is also okay to voice yours.

I was active during Lich King too and those were the days. We used to 40man raid Sunwell, Zul Garub, ICC. It was just grouped up and you went and steamrolled over everything.

Nowadays the only think that evokes the same feeling is pvp. I raided a bit in Shadowlands but had a really good raid leader and didn"t go past normal. I think it’s best to join a guild doing regular raids, there are so many of them. For normal raid, they get together and steamroll once a week and progressive raid on another day. They don’t spend too much time in the game other than gearing .

Tbh this is way more pessimistic and judging a thing without really experiencing the thing.
I am very much a realist. I hate that I have to queue under my level because there are 50 million dps with a few points of io higher or a slightly better gs. But I know the instant fix is pushing my key or just swapping to a tank/healer class. (but lazy)

And the game has changed A LOT since wrath. If that is the toon you run on. Go to siren isle. Do stuff there for around an hour. That’ll build your ilvl. Maybe do some delves for better gear. Start jumping into 2’s, learning the pathing and such. Get the experience and score, and start working your way up.
(Be silly and make some friends)

And that is fine. Just expect the possibility of your experience getting called into question, especially when you harshly label someone’s main content when you haven’t really ever experienced it
And if you come at it from a different angle, people would be willing to help and help push your score and such.

Like if you had started differently, perhaps I would have offered my dps and route knowledge and help you in your runs vs this back and forth on here.

People getting all in their feels over Tamagotchi pets is so wild to me. Nothing has changed since the 90s.

I am appreciative of you and what you have said on this forum. Even though I may not agree with alot of it. It makes me see another aspect/ (pov). Which is good to understand.

I’m not really sure of the complaint… Play beast master if you wanna mess with pets. Seems like the obvious solution. As for not liking survival…don’t play it.

I can’t even begin to explain how many times I have answered this. MM is the Marksmanship Hunter class, every single class in this game got a SEVERE rework and overhaul towards their class fantasy and MM’s has been leaning towards either NO pet interactions at all, or VERY minimal. Lone Wolf was a crap alternative to say “sure, here you go” but in reality it was a step in the direction of “Take my pet, it serves no purpose to me in a fight, give me the damage instead” and a LOT of people that have played MM prefer that. I have played Hunter since the beginning of WoW and the one thing I had always asked for was a Hunter spec without the pet, and that is and has been MM for a while. I agree that you should still be able to summon whatever pet you want, but this is NOT gutting the class. It might be to you, but you’ve been playing the petless version of Hunter when you definitely were supposed to have no pet. In PvP it counts because the cc skills they can provide, but you had to use specific pets altogether and MM had tons of utility even without it. In PvP it’s a tad of a utility nerf but it gives them defensive power and WAY more damage upfront from the eagle, AND you can no cc through a wall because the bird can see them.

I understand the frustration, but when Frost Mage became what it is now, people lost their Ice Elemental and they hated it but this version of Frost Mage has been a stellar DPS without the elemental for a LONG time now. It’s long past the time for MM to get some love in the damage part, the fantasy part, and the overall playability of the class. Before this update you were playong a Classic Hunter with a few more buttons but we aren’t in 2006 anymore. We are in 2025 now and it’s time to step it up. Change sucks, but this is a change that I have been waiting on for a long time now because MM has been absolutely mind numbing and boring before. I’m glad to see my main being brought forward and used in different ways.

Before you say “yeah, but pets” I have multiple challenge tames, including Fenryr from when it was current, actually I have 2 of them and tons of spirit beasts and the same wolf since I was a kid and I liked bringing him out and then realized it was a hard DPS loss to have him so I put him back in his cage and continued to play the game. Beast Mastery is your pet Hunter and Survival is your tracker Hunter.

Also, Survival isn’t unplayable at ALL and is doing fantastic but it’s unplayable to YOU because you do not like it. That’s not how this works. It’s an MMO and people forget that when changes happen, it can be good and bad, and hated and loved. No one made the change specifically for you or I. That also means no one should keep it the EXACT same for 20 years just because you like your pet that serves zero purpose to a MM hunter.

I have sympathy for the ones that will miss their pet, but to that I say play the Hunter class that boasts pets, there are two of them.

For some reason it wont let me edit my last post, but the other thing is that you mentioned Meta on Warlock. Meta was not an OG skill. It was added and removed because it was counterintuitive to how warlocks actually played. It was bittersweet and people liked it but it was off and felt off. If they had put it into the game now, it’d still be weird cause Warlocks shouldnt be IN the fight. They’re ranged.

I have spoken to so many players on here and in the game and the common thing is pets = memories, but we dont play the game for the memories now. We play it to play the game. You arent losing a pet forever, just swap to BM or Survival, and if you dislike them, swap to BM and take the pet out and enjoy it then go back to MM for the serious gameplay.

Like when they removed stance dancing from warriors, or pallly and dk stuff that was kinda similar to that. They are getting rid of more and more of the RPG elements on the game and just trying to make this an MMO, not an MMORPG. RPG exists in Classic, it doesn’t exist in retail.

It’s never easy accepting, let alone acknowledge, when things must change for the better as one gets older.

I agree classes have gotten too complicated. It’s hard to just pick up and play a class anymore.

The talent trees are also a bit ridiculous these days. So many nodes that’s it’s hard to keep everything in your head at once when trying to put a build together.

I feel they have been making unnecessary changes lately that just piss of existing players for little to no gain - MM Hunter pet change, Frost Mage Water Elemental change, … their excuse that players always choose to play without doesn’t hold water. There are a lot of talents that are pretty much mandatory but they don’t remove the less taken alternatives.

I would argue Warlocks should never have gotten Metamorphosis. As a Warlock you control demons not become one. Why would you want to become the very thing you have as a minion?

Blizzard added it because they thought it was “cool” with zero foresight whatsoever - never thinking that they would be adding Demon Hunters for which Metamorphosis is a signature ability.

The DPS improvements have little to do with the removal of the Water Elemental. It all comes down to changes in Furry and Winter’s Chill debuff.

How can SV be button bloated AND gutted… SV is the only hunter spec that actually feels complete.

BM and MM feel lacking like they lost most.

Is this an undercover MM pet loss complaint thread? Smells sus… On that note again MM losing the ability to use a pet isnt losing the pet. Its still perfectly useable on BM and SV.
