Yes but for people who would have to get Theon Greyjoyed in order to care about PvP this nerf is a slap to the face.
Sucks for Enhancement, but I was going with Elemental so far. Was Enhancement that powerful?
Not a melee player sorry can’t answer that.
No Boomy buffs? You guys over nerfed it…like bad
To build on this well worded response, pre-patch seems like a very awkward time to take such a wide swing at any spec that is performing well due to borrowed power systems still being in place and skewing how the real analytical data is presented.
In recent memory, no class or specialization has ever seen such a harsh over-correction to current numbers like enhancement is seeing. This seems like a very volatile response to the current state of damage distribution and not one that really provides a reason or thought out response to decision.
I am hoping that a real correction is made and the items that are (were) outperforming the median are addressed as we expected instead of punishing the spec as a whole.
25% nerf to enhancement without communication is the most pathetic and lazy thing I think I’ve ever witnessed in this game. Like really? WW was way overtuned and got a good explanation for their nerfs and even still it wasn’t a flat out 25% that enhancement got. It’s like blizzard has a hate for enhancement, whenever it’s overperforming it gets shot to the ground instantly.
So where’s the reasoning for this ridiculous number come from @blizzard?
Enhancement shaman was understandably one of the stronger melee specs heading into dragonflight and needed a nerf to fall in-line with other specs, but if you wanted to gut the spec this much at least provide some reasoning behind your decision.
Furthermore, pre-patch balancing is ridiculous considering the borrowed power we’re gonna lose heading into df, which once again could be clarified by any amount of reasoning here to know if this was meant for df tuning or not.
What y’all see right now leading up to Dragonflight there’s more to come. We haven’t seen a proper tuning or balancing phase since I don’t know pandaria days.
Agreed with the above, this seems like a knee jerk reaction for a nerf that was going to happen. This isn’t a well thought out tuning to a class like WW just received to bring it back in line, it a single line of text with no explanation, reason or thought behind what should’ve been an in depth post for this level of change
Stinks they had to mess with mind games for all of the priests though was that really necessary? Idk what you guys think?
Just after some rationale around why a 1/4 aura nerf was deemed appropriate. Data we have access to suggested something more in the range of 10% -15%.
What the hecking heck? This seems very much like a knee-jerk reaction. A “The number too big, crank the dial hard to the left.” kind of reaction.
If you have to cut us off at the knees, please at least give us some kind of explanation. Is this a temporary fix and the dial will be cranked back once we are out of the Shadowlands? Is this a fix for PvP concerns? Are you allergic to our feral doggos and need to shrink them by a quarter?
I certainly hope this is not the kind of communication we can expect to see going forward in Dragonflight.
Monk
-
Windwalker
- Fists of Fury damage reduced by 20%.
- Rising Sun Kick damage reduced by 20%.
- Blackout Kick damage reduced by 10%.
- Storm, Earth, and Fire damage transfer reduced by 6.66(repeating, of course)%.
- Serenity causes the Monk to deal 15% increased damage (was 20%).
- Invoke Xuen duration reduced to 20 seconds (was 24 seconds).
- Shadowboxing Treads increases Blackout Kick damage by 10% (was 20%).
- Teachings of the Monastery now causes Blackout Kick to have a 12% chance to reset the remaining cooldown on Rising Sun Kick (was 15%).
- Fury of Xuen haste bonus has been reduced to 5% (was 8%).
- Whirling Dragon Punch damage reduced by 10%.
- Forbidden Technique now causes Touch of Death to deal 20% increased damage (was 40%) in addition to its current effects.
- Rushing Jade Wind damage reduced by 10%.
- Xuen’s Battlegear now causes Rising Sun Kick critical strikes to reduce the cooldown of Fists of Fury by 4 seconds (was 5) and when Fists of Fury ends, the critical strike chance of Rising Sun Kick is now increased by 40% (was 50%).
- Developers’ notes: Windwalker Monks are dealing too much damage across the board. As a result, we’ve reduced the damage of most Chi spenders (Spinning Crane Kick and the recently improved Strike of the Windlord being the notable exceptions), reduced the throughput of major cooldowns (Storm, Earth, and Fire, Serenity, and Invoke Xuen), and reduced the effect of some powerful talents with the goal of preserving build parity after these changes.
I’m really confused on where this data is coming from that “Windwalker Monks are dealing too much damage across the board”. I’m hoping this isn’t information that was obtained during the first 6 days of prepatch with every Shadowlands borrowed power option still currently active in the game. Also a blanket nerf of 25% to shaman with 0 explanation is quite frankly an insult to the players who main that class.
Nah it’s also true on beta. They were pretty wildly ahead of everyone else in every situation.
While I appreciate that the change is an aura change - our builds are pretty close to well balanced and mucking with anything risks breaking that - 25% seems way too high. 12%, 14%, maybe start there and then tune again.
Okay the nerf it for PVP. If people are so bad that they need a c tier spec to be nerfed, anyway. MM needs huge buffs in PVE.
LANDRO LONGSHUT BUGGED.
Landro Longshot has been put back ingame but everytime we try to redeem a code, it says that it cannot be validated. PLEASE FIX!
A 25% aura nerf was entirely egregious, and very much unwarranted. And to not even include any communication on the logic that preceded the nerf? Unacceptable. Enhance was for once in a blue moon, actually one of the stronger specs on beta for sure. Was it 25% ahead of ANY spec? Maybe a few of the specs whose performance was very, very undertuned and some of the worst performing specs on Beta. But specs such as WW, unholy, Havoc, Outlaw, Feral etc. were all performing very similarly to enhance. I think most of us expected some kind of nerf, as we expected other specs like WW(who was an outlier even compared to other top specs on Beta) as well, but it makes absolutely zero sense to hit Enhance with such an extremely, extremely heavy handed nerf, I cant even remember the last time I saw something like a 25% aura nerf.
Unholy, Havoc, and Feral are all basically untouched, despite having very comparable damage to enhance(and in large AoE, they were better) yet Enhance is singled out to be nerfed into oblivion, with no explanation?
From the limited data set we have on beta, a nerf somewhat comparable to the nerf that WW received would have made sense. Something like a 10-12% aura nerf would have been MORE than enough to set Enhance in line with others, whilst still maintaining a good degree of competitiveness with other specs. A 25% aura nerf takes the spec from being arguably top 5, to almost certainly bottom 5 or worse(especially considering multiple other specs received significant buffs as well). What data could you have been possibly looking at to think anything remotely close to a 25% aura nerf was appropriate?
I think weve all heard you loud and clear, Enhance is not allowed to get close to becoming considered a borderline “meta” spec…because this is the result of flying too close to the sun. I mean really…you couldnt allow Enhance to be a top spec in m+ for the first time ever? You couldnt allow it to be a top spec period for the first time since what, Firelands? The aura nerf NEEDS to be cut in half AT LEAST, otherwise the spec will quite literally be dead on arrival.
You might enjoy something called any defensive, disarm, or immunity.
Absurd. That is HUGE. Biggest nerf I’ve ever seen I’ld say. Was it really THAT necessary? I really hope you review it properly.
