Class tree revamp but

How to target who you want to give freedom

You can take the same talents that empower steed without steed of liberty.

With less BoF on yourself sure.

BoF choice only has one charge in 11.0.5

Both options has give and takes.

The points in class trees are equivalent to busy work in grammar school. They took spells that classes had for over 18 years and then threw them in a tree under the guise of “you have choices”.

Too much hammer chucking range to make our mobility intuitive and good beyond horsie.

You’re getting a FREE BoF on steed. It is not a trap talent for BG’s.

I’ve calculated what we lost and gained as a lot of people seem to be under the impression that we are somehow on a net negative.

Gain:
2 talent points (seal of alacrity)
2 talent points (strength in conviction)
1 talent point (seal of order/fading light)
15s CDR fist of justice
1 talent point(justification)
1 talent point (seasoned warhorse)
1 talent point (holy aegis)
1 talent point (avenging wrath:might)
Of dusk and dawn buff(Blessing of Dawn’s effect has been increased by 10% for Protection and Retribution and by 5% for Holy Paladins.)

Loss:
4% haste
Fading light/seal of order
(Blessing of dusk increases your armor by 10% and you holy power generating abilities cooldown 10% faster)
Seal of the crusader
Holy power spending CDR fist of justice
1 talent point (Zealots Paragon/vengeful wrath)
Golden path
Seal of mercy

Really, only the 4% haste and armor on protection is bad.

Everything else is improved.

These people most not have went and played with the Wowhead tree.

Clearly we have a lot more wiggle room now.

As Ret, I can get all the throughput talents and still have 4-5 points to play with, feels amazing.

I think it comes from people deluding themselves into thinking the throughput talent lost aren’t going to be compensated through tuning.

reminder that losing freedom as a button is bad in pvp even if unbound freedom targets a random target. in actual pvp your probably not using steed of liberty

Are you serious? Every class has redundant nodes to flesh out the tree (cooldown reduction, duration increases, adding charges, etc.). It’s not just paladins having this problem.

We are the only class that don’t have a base movement skill and have 4 other nodes to it alone as well as have a passive that isn’t learning the skill itself in 11.0.5

Priest doesn’t get a baseline movement skill

Paladin does get a stun baseline while other classes have to talent into it

Mage and a few others get an interrupt baseline.

Agree wholeheartedly. Right now my class tree almost never changes (maybe 1 point between pure single target and aoe/cleave) because we are required to pick up all the throughput talents. This leaves almost no wiggle room.

Playing with the 11.0.5 talent calculator is fantastic. Throughput talents are mostly either removed or repositioned. This gives us real flexibility. I’m looking forward to it going live.

Then don’t take it. I don’t see myself using it much, but I can see some situations where saving that gcd could be beneficial. Several people in this thread obviously like it.

And how many melee can maintain 85% of their rotation from range? Its a give and take. That’s the whole reason for classes, otherwise there would just be one melee class called fighter.

Exactly. It all evens out. Nobody has everything and that’s intentional.

That is the definition of a trap talent and the trend of simplification of the class as a whole.

I personally see these choice nodes of steed of liberty vs freedom and autosac as a lazy attempt to add things that lower the skill floor and ceilling.

I wont be using it thats for sure, but I see the long term harm if they keep on adding things like steed of liberty or autosac. Whats next is autobubble gonna come back in a choice node with actual divine shield?

Instead of getting something more like idk ultimate sacrifice or a brand new talent that raises the value of the spell… we get a lazy autosac

A full duration, not 3 seconds Bof would have been more reasonable for Steed of Liberty, or, still having casted BoF when Steed of Liberty is taken would be ideal even if Steed of Liberty was only 3 seconds of BoF. As someone mentioned, you dont always need BoF when you steed, even if you mostly do, but BoF grants movement speed on its own you dont benefit from while using Steed and, you dont pick who the second person that gets BoF is with steed of liberty, this reduces the effectiveness of BoF as group utility and removes player agency. Simplification can be good for some things but it wasnt implemented as a more useful effect, it was designed as a lazy possibly often less useful effect compared to casted BoF.

I feel more player choices = good, Blizzard is offering some of that in 11.5…but what we needed is the choice to get instant mobility instead of a 5th or 6th steed modification, and it is still missing.

Blizzard is rationing our pvp mobility. Other specs have boatloads of mobility while we get scraps.

Skill Capped says Ret is low B tier for SS(solo arena) but also says Templar is best for the content, while HoL requires melee range on the target and Skill capped points out that keeping Ret out of range is easy mode.

its hard to take the “5-6 steed talents” take seriously when the new class tree is so insanely flexable and these new steed talents are good enough to actually want in all content. idk what else you would take or need in a class tree this flexable.

Gotta agree here. Looking at it from this perspective, it’s very flexible, and that’s a good thing.

Flexible sure, perfect it is not. And it should be stated where the imperfections are.

We are going from 3 talents into steed to 5.

Regarding steed of liberty. I am thinking maybe it should be a pvp talent rather then a class one.

No doubt.

Agreed.

Again, agreed.

I guess that’s gonna have to be the trade-off: multinple Talent Points for flexibility.

Having BoF for 3 seconds on Steed use doesnt look like a talent I would use for pvp. Likewise, having BoF automatically pick a teammate to also recieve it, doesnt look like a telent used in pvp. Being able to use BoFs 30% movement speed separate, choosing the 2nd person who gets it still seems like the play

Having BoF for 3 seconds with Steed would have been nice, if we didnt lose casted BoF to get it. I dont like being punished in some way because I spent talent points. Kiss/curse belongs in Affixes, not my talent tree. Like why cost me 40% steed duration to get 20% reduced cooldown. I’m SPENDING talent points.

If I bought a twin turbo kit for my car, I wouldnt want the seller to say, ok this will make you faster sometimes, but you cant drive for more than a mile without letting the car rest. I paying YOU to make it better, not kinda worse.

i put in other threads that steed of freedom while good in concept wont be used in multiple pvp things or in serious content. but for pve it has more of a use or even in out door content, the latter ive been told i should “Care about” more

that one is the only bad steed node in the tree, the rest are fine and do make steed stronger as a cd.

again its hard to take these complaints seriously when the only two offenders are one with niche use in pvp but alot of potential value in pve while the other is just bad. while heck even the kiss curse talent isnt that bad either cause in pve how much of that steed duration is “used” if they make the cdr 40% like the duration cut then it would be better

not to mention the tree is again so flexable, you can ignore these steed talents and go for other things. this is good
