No. Youre preventing said people from playing with. Not playing in general. If you could somehow force all players to follow your lead… That would be gatekeeping.

And as I said in my original reply to this topic, gatekeeping your own group access is OK and something I don’t have a problem with. All it takes to bypass this is joining a different group or making one of your own.

You did in fact apparently read the definition. But you clearly have not comprehended it. It doesn’t need to succeed to be keeping, and it doesn’t need to prevent everyone to be gatekeeping. It really isn’t that complicated of a concept.
Sometimes it makes perfect sense like disallowing green gear in your high level raids. Other times it makes very little sense like requiring epic gear in entry level dungeons.
Both are considered gatekeeping. Feel free to make up your own phrase if you need a separate concept.
As a fully geared healer playing with my partner a full geared tank, we aint looking to carry people who can’t press their buttons. We get 30+ whispers when we post looking for DPS - of course I’m taking the guy who tells me he’s in full sunwell gear because I value my time. It’s nothing personal. People who can’t get into groups should simply make their own

Incorrect. The word is not narrowly constrained in that way. You are free to make up your own word if you feel you need it.

What if we had a system where players like this could still post their own groups in LFG and only take full sunwell/brutal glad people.
While also letting more casual players that care more about just doing the dungeon than speed clears, just sign up for automated system where they are assigned to first people available looking for a party and BiS gear or meta classes don’t matter to them.
Wonder what we could call a system like this.

There is nothing stopping casual players from making groups and applying to them. You could advertise “casual chill group” in the LFG and if this is such a dire problem surely there are countless causals waiting to sign up

How is it not gatekeeping? You’re opting not to play with someone you don’t even know. Pretty sweeping decision for someone obsessed with being social.
Because I have 40 people whispering to play with me and 3 slots in my group. I’m going to be “Gatekeeping” someone might as well not have to carry them too
Fair point. If only they made a tool that accommodated the many rather than the few. I wonder what it would be called?

I intentionally invite “bad” specs to help them out because the mobs die so fast.
Just because someone isn’t doing a ton of damage doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get to play.
Not playing with me =/= not getting to play
