i feel like ppl do GDKPs when they’re in BiS because literally what else are they doing besides raid logging. at least they make gold from doing content they enjoy. and it keeps em in the game.
yes it gives the geared players something to earn, and the poorly geared players a way to get into the raids.
Yeah, for money
That’s what retail has become and it made paid carry runs the norm.
Retail - Don’t have gear or achievements for a raid, pay for a carry.
Classic - don’t have a guild or gear for a raid, just buy gold and join a gdkp.
Most gdkps I have gone to dont have a single whale.
You get 2k points for carrying this run, next week you buy a piece for 2k gold. IF gold buying was as big as you claim, how am I getting any gear at all having never bought gold?
I had a hunter who “ran out of arrows” and did 107 average dps in Nexus this morning. It was practically like RDF was already in the game.
Yep, it’s unfortunate that the pro RDFers don’t know this, all they see is “WELL I CAN GET INTO A DUNGEON FASTER I THINK!”
gold buyers should be banned, wouldnt change a single thing that the majoiry of raids would still be GDKP because every one that actually goes to them knows the people that dont, have no clue what they are even mad about.
Get some friends
gear some characters
Go to gdkps on those characters
get gold from gdkps
buy gear on your alts now with your main funding your alts.
The big huge pot runs, the ones with all the gold buyers, are very rare and actually have massive gatekeeping, the carriers are all established.
thats what my bro said
the only prob.i have it was in the OG it should be the same way it come out in patch 3.3 it should do the same come out in the patch be4 final patch
As I said in another reply, ‘general’ is a relative term compared to what you’re describing. If I’m describing ‘Joe Blows Brutal XP Farm Bonanza’, then it is gatekeeping. We’re literally arguing semantics.
Everyone knows where 99% of classic players get their gold from
Then all the servers would be deserted
We are not arguing semantics. Well you may be trying to.
Do you have general access to dungeons?
Yes you do.
So you aren’t being gatekept.
Are certain players putting high restrictions on the groups they themselves form. Sure. Is that allowed? Sure.
Now if you would like to prove me wrong, please describe the system developed by a large collective players that is in place right now that prevents you from doing dungeons.
I posted this in another thread not too long ago, but the word everyone is looking for is elitism.
For it to be gatekeeping, those people would need to have complete control over whether or not you could do that content. An example of gatekeeping would be controlling who can use a football field, an example of elitism is controlling who can play on your team. In this case, the dungeon is the football field, the team is the dungeon group. Nobody can stop you from entering the dungeon, they can only stop you from joining their team. Hence, it’s elitism, not gatekeeping.
Its a matter of semantics, sure, but it is irritating to see people use gatekeeping incorrectly over and over.
You are consistently missing the point entirely by trying to assume what my position is without fully reading my responses.
Are you being gatekept from dungeon group #1337? Yes.
Are you being gatekept from dungeoning at all or from the game itself? Obviously, no.
Please go back and read my (3?) replies in full before more time is wasted trying to reexplain something that I’ve already covered at least twice.
For any further pedants who wish to argue:
Gatekeep: 1. To control or limit access to something.
Nah, it’s not really pendantic, it’s a key part of the definition. Key word: general. Under your definition, every single adult on the planet would be a gatekeeper.
Wow! It’s almost like you’re beginning to understand what a ‘relative term’ is!
To give you a pragmatic example, I’m going to be gatekeeping you from further discussion with me. That means I’m going to limit your access to having a conversation with me, not the entire world. Normally I wouldn’t have to specify that.
No, the word general in the context of gatekeeping has been established in most thesaurus and dictionaries. Dude, it’s even the first result on google.
Two things: First, I agree with you. My alt in questing greens is right there on the meter with dudes in tier gear, so…I mean, it’s not a thing for regular five-man runs.
Second, a lot of people are 4-manning the dungeons for XP, and to do that quickly enough to meet xp/hour goals (which is FUN for some people…and nobody else gets to gatekeep by saying their method of fun is invalid), all four of those group members need to have a certain level of gear.
You could grab any four players from a random sample of almost any of our servers, and they’d be able to complete UK…but four like-minded players wearing excellent gear and using consumables will do it in half the time. And that’s the whole point.
Let them play their way, and you can play yours. The LFG tool allows everyone to post a group in any way they please.
