Choosing a Covenant?

I love the Venthyr! This makes me hope that San’layn options are added to either Forsaken or Blood Elves!

My impression is that once you choose your covenant you’re stuck with it.

So if you pick a covenant and then Blizzard nerfs its abilities you’re stuck being second-rate the entire expansion. If you’re a high-end raider you might even have to retire that character so you can play one with the “right” covenant.

If that’s how it works, it sounds like incredibly bad game design to me.

Silver covenant as a High elf Paladin.

I’m going Griffindor because I’m noble and studious.

They said you’ll be able to change it, probably some grind. BUT even if they didn’t allow it, never EVER let someone tell you how to play YOUR game.

I’m going bastion because it makes sense that a pally would go to the faction with uther and angels. Even if the abilities are complete trash tier I’ll still join them.

Necrolords on my DK. Probably the vampires on my warlock. My eventual Vulpera rogue will go with the fae. My shaman will probably go to Bastion just to see them all.

If everyone overwhelming decides on one covenant, will it then be removed from the game? That might sway my decision.

But what about the many players who play tanks in raids, dps in M+, and heal in PvP?

They’re essentially telling us we CAN’T play “OUR” game that way - even though they create that content for us.

Torn between Kyrian and Night Fae for main character but will explore all 4, trying to match class with covenant

Not sure what you’re asking here. Are you saying like being forced to tank in raids?

Play how you want is my stance. If you wanna tank do it, if you wanna be a lorehound go for it, if you wanna be an epic pvper more power to ya. If someone asks you to swap to a healer for a dungeon and you don’t want to, then don’t swap.

Sadly that’s going to be an issue. And its on Blizzard to try and balance it.

However, I think the choice for many will be more nuanced. Some will look at “what are my friends playing” so they can quest together with greater ease. Some will consider visuals. Some will of course go for “whatever gives the biggest buff”.

And since you’ll be tied to a degree to a single Covenant (though as they said you can change Covenants but its not easy) people are going to be rightly upset if Blizzard balances the Covenants poorly.

But to answer the question? I foresee a number of my friends going Kyrian. So obviously since I want to be questing with them, I’d go Kyrian as well.

I expected more Kyrians.

Gonna go Night Fae though. I like the aesthetics of that zone and I like the irony of my goblin mage siding with nature.

I would love to read more about them before choosing.

Luckily i have 4 alts so ill be picking all of them, but ill wait and see what armor is available for each armor type before picking one

Why do people like you pretend to care about DPS, especially when it comes to covenants which will no doubt have a marginal difference?

Do you play the top DPS class, when that can make a HUGE difference in DPS? No, of course not, so stop trying to do your typical problem-creating, fail-troll.

Depends on the character. My druid and hunter will probably go with the Night Fae. Paladin and Priest with Kyrian. Demon Hunter with Venthyr. Etc…

Only Covenant that I am not really interested in are the Necrolords. Not a fan of the scourge motif. Will probably do that group on a character but won’t be thrilled about it. Hope I can skip the entire “build-a-abomination” thing.

Can’t we just make our own Covenant?

I’m sick of cow-towing to all these losers who can’t run anything.

I think that will depend on which toon I am on. Part of it will be what are the abilities per class for the covenants you haven’t released yet, and part what theme feels right for toon.

How about the Silver Covenant for the Alliance? =p

Kyrian probably for this character, I’ll be playing all Covenants with different characters.

Kyrian all the way! Those little owl boys that were showed stole my heart. Also looking forward to those new cloaks and wings! My druid will probably go with Night Fae only because the active ability there looks awesome. Im so glad we are getting some new updated lore and creatures here.
