"Checking logs" to "raid"

i think i had one person i ran with who grey parsed legitimately because they were 100% new to the game and didnt drag higher spell ranks to their bars. i taught them how to play a lock and the rotation and that yeah you gotta buy the demon books and heres what the rotation is, no pressure, heres a vid on the perspective of a caster dps so you know the tempo and like walked them through it and they went up to like low 40s when they were previously literally parsing under a 10

i think helping others is fine, its expected of a social game. but you realistically wanna limit how many “lower end performers” you have, or you just wont clear idk why people dont like logs its just “got half a brain? ok cool” test

i addressed this specifically
you can see what log they received their lowest parse at

if that log is public and viewable, you can select boss, and see what that person was targetting and damaging. i.e. you can see that they were damaging bombs as their duty instead of doing big numbers which means they know how to do mechanics and are a capable player to bring to the raid

RIght, that’s why it’s all in first person.

In classic… you’re competitive in classic.
(Probably because you’d be trash in Retail raiding if Ima poke the bear for no good reason.)

Nono, that L is all your own making. Own your work, homie.

I have a great time raiding…and you’re an angsty Classic Competitive (probably because you suck in Retail raiding.)

You’re extremely easy to anger…and that’s your own making.
(And no, I still won’t raid with you. Stop asking. And no, I didn’t read your whole post, I skimmed it- reading it would waste my time.)

And just to put the cherry on top… I’m ignoring you so you can seethe without me knowing. I remember running with you in SFK in P1…and you’ve been ignored since then on my character in game.
(You’ve expended all of your useful contributions to the conversation as far as I’m concerned. Didn’t take long.)

Way back when I used to run raids in DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) I would bring a few people each raid that didn’t know the raids. My thinking was that if I brought new people each time I would have more people to play with. I never struggled to find people.

can also see damage taken to specific player and it says what from, and you can see, oh they pressed buttons cool, sick. theyre a team player, come with

So you’re some kind of PvP god? Would you like it if 1K rated ppl asked to join your team so you can carry them to glad for free? No? Well I don’t like carrying grey parsers either, unless ofc it’s a GDKP.

yeah its a social game i think theres not a problem for bringing new players when you have like at least half or the “essential” roles be decent perfomers (tanks healers interrupts) because you can teach mechanics and make friends that way

but if youre forming a 10man with more than half being pugs i personally would want assurance that if i ask in raid if anyone has questions that theyll ask if they have any and not stay silent and wipe us, or bare minimum, can follow orders like “stay here dont move healers who know this fight will bait the electrocutioner mechanic just stay still and do damage and youll do great” with logs being like. extra security and peace of mind that ok at least they cleared it once even if it was on their alt idk

It is very telling to me how have to argue in such bad faith.

when in actuality I used the “royal” you which is actually 2nd person plural, and intentionally referring to you being anyone in the community.

then we have this gem

when what as actually said was

Then we have this

Bro dont worry, I am not asking you to raid with me. Love the classic
“my argument is bad and have no counter points response select one”:

  • lol your mad
  • yikes
  • cringe
  • im trolling

lol

You are free to be as mad or annoyed as you like with people requiring logs to raid, but it doesn’t mean your illogical assertions that they are meaningless are correct. Emergent Behaviors do not emerge without cause or merit.

The thing about WCL parses in Classic is they aren’t very good at setting a role since you can theoretically play any role with any spec and compounded further with rune choices.

My logs say I am a ret paladin up until the last two bosses. I typically OT the adds/gator on Grubbis (since I run consecrate) and that gets me logged as a DPS. I put on DPS runes and whatever gear I have to DPS the next few bosses. I also don’t run a 2H tank or do anything fancy other than traditional tanking. So my damage parses are lower. I run with a guild so it typically isn’t a problem, but I can’t help but wonder how a PUG group would view it.

Also true.

One of my runs when we were short a healer, I was counted as a Resto Shaman on Mekk while enhance because I was using my MSW procs to heal the tank and help out the healers. (One of which was a boomie standing in while we all still had some pretty poo gear.)

Evidently having 1/5th of the priest’s HPS was enough to make me a resto in logs. lol

you seem upset

i mean i think if youre tanking on grubbis + menagerie and then go dps on other fights but it tracks you as dps, you can still usually intuit that this player offtanked when you look at logs because itll just be the fight with “offtank required” where you can see that player primarily targetted squirell and chicken up until almost the end of the fight to kill them all at the same time, and also only focused basilisk so that means theyre an offtank

its what we have our guild warr do, offtank those fights, dps otherwise and it reflects in the logs with that “clear” trend of “lower dps on just these two fights where you need two tanks, put two and two together and go hm yeah theyre just doing the mechanic and their role, good player”

It’s a beta and it’s not even endgame  Lordy this community sometimes…I have faith but you all make me question it sometimes.

100%, you can make your groups however you want, OP and others are free to form their own and run it with a team they get. You shouldn’t have to play with anyone that makes the game un-fun for you and if that means neckbeards only then so be it.

Can people pump the breaks a little though, it’s a beta and nothing you get or do means anything, just have fun and sometimes fun can be falling and then overcoming adversity because easy/smooth isn’t fun all the time IMO…

Easy and smooth is fun ALL the time for me.

Why are you trying to tell people that failing is fun? Are you high?

I’ll tell my nephew that failing is fun and he will end up living on the streets.

My experience was tank let Grubbis sit in green smoke til I had to type to tell him to move and that’s when I realized our DPS almost had the basilisk killed.

Well done sir. I’ll admit you had me for a while.

While you and I know this, there are plenty of people out there who do not understand the nuances of tanking in this sort of environment. I MT’d Thermaplugg and parsed a 37. I am not using Exorcist/Art of War which would be the ideal rune combo. Could I swap to it? Of course. Having Guided By The Light though means I can heal during the intermissions and not be scared of running OOM. Gives the healers time to regen mana and I can get everyone nearly topped off.

People don’t see purple, orange, pink, or gold in your parses and just assume.

tbh to me that also means theyre bad at the game because they dont understand how to interpret logs aside from “unga bunga me no see pink number, me no take you to raid”

when i try to recruit i ask what their last raid was like etc if theres something i can help with before it starts (enchants for gear etc if they buy mats ill enchant em etc) and actually chat on what the expectations are (dont be mean to ppl in raid im fine with re explaining mechanics just to ease anxiety but at least let me know you like 80% know what youre doing) to keep it ez
