I attempted to transfer a character (Boltz) from the server Sul’thraze to Myzrael PvE, but the transfer didn’t go through, instead I got an error message in the character selection menu that says “an error was encountered, please come back later” and the character is marked with the cogwheel.
Btw, I did get the funds extracted from my account so at least the transaction did go through, just not my actual transfer.
There is already one thread up in regards to this, having multiple ones only muddies issues.
Nothing can be done about this over the forums - there are no GMs here. I would suggest filing a ticket under Purchase Failure. It may take some time to be responded to, but tickets will be responded to in the order they were received.
Hopefully a blue will merge the two together to keep all the posts together. It does sound like something more is going on behind the scenes. That first thread was marked resolved as, at the time, it only looked like a single person experiencing it.
Hopefully they be able to track down what’s going on and get the transfer system working again!
I issued a ticked and all I got was an automated response telling me to basically wait it out for 24 hours and that “more information is needed” and to just “try again later” so I can get fully charged and get nothing in return most likely.

Try logging on your characters that are having this issue, you’ll most likely won’t be able to log in any more, but the error will be gone as well, and you’ll be put on the pending list.
I’m having the exact same issue, I attempted to transfer from server Fairbanks to Pagle. I have been charged but i just see “error was encountered please try later”. I have no mail, under 5k gold.
is it safe to play our current characters? if the transfer errored out but we still have been charged? i really dont wanna fall behind on TBC launch due to a botched server transfer.
I tried logging on my character that failed to transfer, and now It’s locked out, but now the transfer seems to be processing. I’m waiting to see what happens in 5-10 minutes so don’t do anything risky until i come back with more info
