So, i paid for a name change when i did it did not go through correctly or something and a GM had to help me, its been 3 weeks give or take, and the toon i name changed on the character select screen is bugged, for name it says my new name, but for zone it says (error) and for zone it says (Name change in progress) with a cogwheel next to the toon that says (an error was encountered. please come back later) I put in a ticket for this last week and was told after a maintenance patch it will be fixed." I cant post a link to imgur for visual evidence on whats happening for some reason but its getting annoying when i forget where im logged in at after i’ve been off the toon for a day or two

You should be able to post a link to the image, just be sure to highlight it, then click on the “preformated text” icon in the posting toolbar that looks like </>

Yep, that’s definitely a problem. When you put in your ticket before, did they mention it needing to be escalated? If so, then it’s in the hands of a different team altogether. It’s very rare that a paid service requires that sort of attention, but it does happen.

If that’s the case, you could open a ticket to see if it’s still being looked into. But if a GM is unable to fix it for you, it may require some more drastic back-end work that a GM simply doesn’t have access to.

No i was just told it would be auto fixed with a maintenance patch, but at the same time it reset a lot of my quest as well, “was told it dident” but I know it did, as i had to redo my whole introduction to boralus. i’ve put in 2 tickets for this problem been told different things both times.

Are you still able to log into the character? If so, it may still be some sort of odd UI issue. Usually an error would prevent you from being able to log in to the character at all.

As for quests resetting, the name change doesn’t touch quests at all. In fact, it’s almost impossible to “reset” quests. The only time that really happens is during a faction change. Any faction specific quests that were completed on the original faction are not carried over and need to be re-done.

I know you tried the UI reset, but here’s something I’d recommend. First off, reboot your computer. That way we can be sure nothing is stuck open.

Next, run a :arrow_forward: Repair :arrow_left: on your WoW installation.

Let’s see if that makes any difference.

Will this reset all my addons like doing the WTFold Interfaceold etc.

It’s possible, but if you did the UI reset already, it would have done that for sure.

So i did turn off my pc before doing the folder things to make sure nothing would happen or if anything was open that was stuck open, but i have it repairing will post back when its done with updates, i do appreciate the help :slight_smile:

Just to be clear though, the character is actually playable for you? Did the name change happen too and it’s just displaying an error? I’m more just curious as I’ve not seen this sort of issue happen specifically I don’t think.

Ya i can log on and do everything from raids to pvp, i just want to fix the issue as its annoying to see 24/7

Thankfully it’s just showing up there and not actually making the character unplayable. That’s usually what the case is and that’s why I wondered if it was escalated to the development team.

If the Repair doesn’t fix it, I’d recommend posting a bug report in the Bug Report Forums so that the QA team can be made aware of it. Otherwise there’s not likely anything a GM would be able to do to clear that sort of error up (other than what we’ve already suggested trying).

So repairing the client did not fix it so ill report it to the bug forum, thanks again for trying to help me fix this issue

Sorry it didn’t work. There’s a pretty major patch this week, so who knows! Maybe it’ll disappear then for you :wink:
