That I couldn’t tell you, Bigdestiny. As far as I know there was no event that should have caused it and I haven’t seen any other claims of something like that happening.
I won’t say that, because I have seen stranger things happen over the years. I’m saying that we have no evidence of a character of that name existing on this WoW license. I don’t know why the current character would have been flagged for a rename, I don’t even have a note indicating that it was.
With the systems in place, that is not possible. You have to be logged in to be reported.
In this case, nothing on the account indicates it ever had that name, or that it was changed. There would be penalty records if it was.
Do you have another Battlenet Account? Could you have had the character on that account maybe? Could it have been on a different server on a second account?
That is about the only thing I can think of that would result in you remembering one thing, and the account records for the current account showing something else.
OR you were hit by a goblin technology ray and it deleted the character and freed up the name. No traces of the name or character were even left on the account. Working as intended per the goblins?
Sir, please look at the light
Jokes aside, glad you at least get to pick a name you like that does not break the rules.
Can you see that when I logged in 2 weeks ago for the first time in 7 months that the system made me change my name?
I see everyone’s response about logic but I had the name all through classic on Whitemane and then again in era. I actively played the character in Era until 7 months ago.
This is just so wild to me. That I can have a character for 5 years and then all of the sudden the name is gone and there is no record it ever existed.
You have no record of a character name that has existed for 5+ years on a single server/account without change (until now). According to what you see on your end, the character “Bigdestiny-Whitemane” never existed on this account.
You don’t know why the name change happened, and state that it didn’t come from Blizzard. The name change doesn’t align any protocol or policy regarding name reports, account flags or time-automated systems.
You cannot verify that a rename flag was ever issued for this character ID at all.
Am I mistaken with any of these conclusions? Is it possible that you are mistaken with any of these conclusions?
Is there a way to elevate this to a support representative that might have more experience in looking through the database?
No, naming history does not exist on a character level. The only time it is noted is if a character service is used by the player or if we were to change the name, such as flagging the character for a rename.
Correct. If the name was flagged for a rename, I don’t see any reason for it to have happened on our end and no note indicating that it did. Classic Era doesn’t have a name release system in place like Modern WoW does.
Correct. If we issued a naming flag, it would automatically generate a note that I’d be able to see. There is no such note.
It’s always possible, but not likely.
It isn’t a matter of experience, Massey, something I have in spades, thank you very much. I’m not looking through a database, that isn’t how this works. Accounts have a note section, where notes are added by Blizzard staff or by various systems as they are used. What is noted is clear as day, or should I say, what is not noted is clear as day.
I am sorry that there isn’t anything we can do here.
