Why is it advertised on the in-game shop that a level 70 boost is $70.00, however when charged it comes out at $96.00?
I’m OCE, all currencies in AUD.

I’m OCE, all currencies in AUD.
In-game shop Level 70 Character Boost is currently showing at $96 for me - I’m also OCE and AUD.
There was an announced price increase for Australia and New Zealand currencies that went into effect February 7th.
So why is it advertised with a cheaper price?
Am I stupid, or is that literally false advertising?
Well, seeing as we, other players, don’t know where exactly you live, we can only guess being taxes, exchange rates and the like.
What’s the cost for a 2 pack? My shop shows “From $60” US with 1 and 2 pack tokens. For a 2 pack it’s 50$ each.
Could there be an issue with the Shop not recognizing that their physical location is in the OCE area (despite the currency being correct)?
I only ask since the amount they were charged coincides with what Nephe sees on their end (as an OCE player).
Either they have the page cached in their browser still with the old data, or the browser is masking their location so that the Shop does not properly see it. The shop displays prices based off the location of the consumer.
Using a different browser, clearing cache and cookies, or turning off a VPN are all suggestions if someone is not seeing the right price.
It’s very concerning to me that I may be charged more than I was told because my cache isn’t clear.
Edit: removed the second sentence because the word “exploitation” is going too far. I didn’t fully understand the situation.
Wrong post sorry.
It not the job of Blizzard to maintain your computer software. Blizzard does not maintain, update, or otherwise change your browser. That is up to the user to keep current. Failure to update or refresh your own browser so that you can see current versions of pages is your own responsibility.
minus the vpn, would any of this actually apply to the in game shop?
That doesn’t change a word of what I said?
I don’t know. I don’t use the in-game shop. I would HOPE it puts you on the shop based on the Region you are playing the game in. However, I don’t know that for sure. I do know that the purchases are Region and currency limited. It will not allow purchase in Euros on the NA shop for example. The address on the account has to match the credit card and region.
It does. You seem to be trying to “catch” Blizzard in some illegal conspiracy to defraud their customers by changing prices. You have been told that the price not showing correctly can be due to cache issues with your browser. This isn’t a Blizzard issue, it can happen with any website if you have an old cache of the site, or if you use a VPN to try to get around region locking.
So no it isn’t ripe for exploitation nor is it concerning. It is how the internet works.
You’re taking this way too seriously. Calm down. Just because I don’t like the way Blizzard displays their payments (or the infrastructure behind it), and because I recognize it benefits them to do things this way, doesn’t mean I’m conjuring an entire conspiracy in my head.
I initially thought it was false advertising because I didn’t know about the issues on the user’s end.
It’s not that deep. It’s just how businesses work.
Not everything is all at the fault of Blizzard. Sometimes, things at fault are on the person end, and not Blizzard. Now, it is possible they could’ve been using a VPN, or something else, or haven’t updated there account details. Blizzard isn’t responsible for what anyone else does.
Now, from my end, it does show the character boost at $96AUD, as the OP was charged. As for how they got a $70, sounds like something from the OP’s end.
But not everything is at the fault of Blizzard, and Blizzard does not have control over what a user does.
Outdated cached data could still apply.
This is you conjuring a conspiracy in your head. It doesn’t benefit them at all, in fact it probably hurts them as it makes people more upset to see the price change. You are the one that is trying to pin this on Blizzard. This is how these stupid narratives start and we become overrun with them here as people see the posts and take them as gospel and then use them to argue about how corrupt Blizzard is.
Most websites work that way. It is not a Blizzard thing. It is why you have to refresh the page, or sometimes do a hard refresh, when online shopping to see updated quantities and prices.
In this case it is just how browsers work.
