My character couldn’t turn in callings, the quest info wouldn’t come up, so I tried to log out. Couldn’t do that or exit, so closed the WoW window. When I tried to log back in, it said “a character with that name already exists”.
In the past, this would sometimes happen but would very quickly go away. As it currently stands, the character still can’t be logged onto. I can log onto another character and see that first one still standing there, but can’t log onto them.
This happened to me on my alt right when I turned in the mining profession weekly of turning in 20 bismuth ore. I then had to shut down WoW completely and then I couldn’t get back on that character. I tried another alt and was fine but I went to turn in the skinning profession weekly and it bugged out again and I couldn’t do anything. It also didn’t give me my profession knowledge book from turning in the quest.
This is happening to me on every character. I was cycling through toons doing my Concentration crafting and now whenever I log into a character after an action (one craft, turning/accepting a quest) the whole game just hangs. I don’t get DCed but I can’t interact with anything. I can’t log out so I have to force close the game. I can log into another character (where the same things happens) but the last character I was on is still logged in.
My internet is working fine, Wow is the only thing affected.
A guildie and I had this issue earlier as well. Took about 10 minutes for the characters to finally be logged out so they could be accessed again. There were some complaints in general chat about this also so there may be some server lag.
I’m having the same problem. Happened in a time walking dungeon and activating the machine quest. I don’t get DCed but I can’t interact with anything. I can’t log out so I have to force close the game. I can log into another character (where the same things happens) but the last character I was on is still logged in.
Also getting this today in the Ringing Deeps.
Happened twice now.
Have to login with a different toon then wait for it to clear.
I think this is being caused by looting. As soon as you loot, everything becomes non-interactable. All of my timers are at 0s and not expiring. The server is not frozen however, mobs are moving around and reacting to me, I just cant do anything. The people saying they could get back in after 10 min is just the server purging your character as AFK. This needs a hotfix or a server restart. Game is unplayable atm.
This has been happening to me as well, the only thing that has fixed it is the stuck character feature and that just stopped working as well.
got this after mining a node and twice in timewalk dungeons on different toons so far, think i will take a break until they fix this. Something bigger is broken here
Great info, I have the exact issue. I’m certain we aren’t alone. Fellow guildies were attributing it to TimeWalking loot, but I suspect the overall loot table in game is the issue.
Also happening in lfr, cant cast anything. unable to use any spells. Had to alt f4 just to close the game. Removed all addons and still happens.
Yeah, there are reports of people doing PVP and not getting rewarded their proper currency. It’s been going on for over an hour, so there is no way Blizzard does not know about it.
Yes, it seems that it happens after looting.
I re-connected (finally after the server timed me out), waited a bit. moved around, etc.
Soon as I looted a chest, I’m frozen and have to Alt-F4 out of the game, and my character is messed up for 15 to 30 minutes.

If you loot you get bugged and you can’t interact with anything
When you relog your character “already exists” for about 10-15 mins.
The loot doesn’t go to your mailbox either, but it still locks out out for the week if it’s from a raid boss. So that’s cool.
I was in a raid and it happened to us. I didn’t loot anything yet, not even trash. Was just killing trash and suddenly I couldn’t hit anymore in the middle of killing the same trash mob. So I don’t think it’s specific to looting.
It happened on my paladin as I was starting a delve about 10 minutes ago and he is still stuck in limbo.
Same here. Was traveling through zones and it stopped responding.
use the “move character” feature they have for stuck characters. it’ll get you out of that bug twist.
Just finished a key and when the boss died the game became non intractable. Tried hearthing to dorn and when that made my character freeze i logged and reloaded the game only for the same message to pop up. Looking like a server issue.
