Changes to gold policy

so since theres new changes going around to gold tradings, does this now mean that people who trade/sell battle pets cross server ie person a on server a opens trade window with person b on server b, and one of them pays the other with gold for said pet, is now bannable potentially?

also for mages who get gold tips from random server players whether the mages own server or elsewhere, that is bannable now? or what.

am confused based on how the writings on the wall are written.

if this is blizzards attempt at cutting down on those who want to swap between versions ie classic & retail which it seems like it is, then thats good, but for those of us with different server guildies, or those who of us who like to trade newbies to the game gold and or bags to get them started like a care package, is that now frowned on?

Can you put it in a trade window, in-game and trade it? Then, no, it isn’t against policy.

I’d link this as a blue talked about it, I’d read through it.

Trading Gold Between Realms, Factions, or Classic and Modern

Updated: 1 hour ago

Common Problems

  • Can I trade gold with another player between WoW Classic and Modern?
  • Can I trade gold with a friend on another WoW Classic realm?
  • Made a deal with another player to exchange gold between factions on WoW Classic but he didn’t hold up his end
  • I’m trying to trade gold to another realm in WoW Classic

Trading gold across WoW Classic realms or factions, or different versions of WoW (Modern to Classic), is prohibited. Such trades, particularly with those you do not know or trust, are often linked with gold selling activities, which contribute to realm economy issues, botting, and account compromises. Engaging in trades of this nature can result in account penalties, up to and including, account closure.

However, trades within the game’s systems, such as cross-faction or cross-realm trades in Modern WoW, are allowed.

Is it possible to get clarification on the earlier blue post about neutral AH swaps with multiple accounts not being supported? Many of us do this on era, especially on lower pop clusters (i.e. not whitemane) to transfer gold and materials to ourselves since we have much slower economies. I do this on two different clusters that aren’t whitemane right now. This sounds like it is now bannable possibly from the prior blue post but they could not confirm this, only saying it isn’t a supported transaction. I find this hard to believe being it is a game system just like trade.

they said in one of the other gold threads on this topic some clarification is coming next week likely in a community post of some sort with likely more information and clarifications.

as its been mentioned already from looks of things heres an example:
person A on classic server A, can now no longer transfer/trade gold to person B on BC/Cata Classic without risking ban.
Person A in any of the classics can now no longer trade gold to person B on retail some amount of gold aka swap without risking ban.

likely the same case if person A on US can no longer trade gold on EU server to person B who only on EU without risking ban.

I would think that anything involving just your own characters on the same account would be fine. But the moment you have to involve more than 1 account, that’s a problem.

You’d think so, but they already said the opposite seemingly. But then made no mention in their updated article. And when they mentioned it was no longer supported they couldn’t not say if it was even bannable.

Much appreciated on the clarity, that answers all questions I had.

So…when is the policy going into affect…and at what date/time are they gonna start penalizing folks?
Also…will they be going back and penalizing people for the swap when it was a “unauthorized action?”

Luckily, I only play retail and use my Warband to move things between my characters…but I’m just curious how that will be applied.

If I was one who did swap gold while it was “legal” but not protected…I would be very concerned about the date/time it took affects, and how far back the system will be implementing actions.

Kinda crazy to just suddenly change the ToS without a small warning…wonder how many will get in trouble with bans because they were not given a heads up prior to the change.
And…I understand they did announce it, but it was in affect prior to it being announced. That could seriously put some people in affect not knowing.
(And yes, I am aware why a longer announcement was not given) … Just hope that is looked at for the folks doing it.

Again…kinda disappointing how much Blizzard has to do to try and stop folks from cheating the system…lol, why can’t folks just do it the right way like all of us. Makes the game funner too.

Generally, the moment when the article is updated.

Doubtful and more likely if any investigations prior to the date they’ll be focusing on the flow of ill-gained gold regardless of when the policy change happened.

Ty miss//sir.
That’s kinda what I assumed…but good to confirm for others.
Feel extremely bad for those who did it without knowing about the new policy in place…lolz.

Makes me extremely grateful I keep up with the forms and don’t attempt to ride that gray line many do.

But, ty again for your response and happy gaming.
