The fact it was considered the worst expansion of all time until WoD should say enough
I am not sure who stated this fact, when did they state it and for what reason (other than feelings/emotions of some players)? Please do shed some light.
Yah I am not playing cata if they refuse to give us permanent wrath classic era servers also.
vast majority of the player base for every video game every sold never finish it.
example: One study published in 2019 reviewed the achievements from 725 games on the PC gaming storefront Steam and found just 14 percent of players completed the games they own
so let’s not design WoW around people who can’t even cross the finish line when they’re even given roller blades to get there.
And who do you think this post will attract? You knew exactly what were you doing, you just enjoy arguing with them.
I mean, I see doomsayers on both sides. You have people saying that cata is bad and permanent wrath classic servers should get made. And you have people saying wrath classic is bad and that cataclysm classic is the future. And anyone who likes wrath classic are wrong.
Like just give out permanent wrath classic servers. And the debate is over. I don’t hate cataclysm. I just hate the fact that blizz won’t let me play wrath classic servers anymore. Just so stupid to me.
People are not saying wrath classic is bad. They’re saying that there are not enough players for wrath era to make a sufficient profit. Blizzard is not a service organization, it’s not a non profit. It’s a business. All the evidence I’ve seen is that wrath era is not a profitable venture for blizzard. Blizzard obviously has reached the same conclusion and they have even more data than we have.
If you have a solid team now this sounds fun. But I do agree this is isn’t what “Classic” players wanted when they chose to go back and steamroll MC again and again while completely baked.
The limit to successful teams has ALWAYS been the number of capable leaders. This doesn’t change at all in Cata from any other expac. Raid size is a red herring – most guilds will be pursuing heroic kills and the lockout system is unchanged (except you can’t also do 10s with the same toon.)
Not to quote the rest of the post but – the community doesn’t have to die. Cata is still very guild friendly with guild levels and guild challenges. And modern platforms like Discord help keep communities going much easier than “back in the day.”
LFR is meh, but actually a pretty cool bridge for gearing your new alts. It encourages play.
The story is … ok. The zones are good. The dungeons are good. And Deathwing is pretty cool.
Raid logging isn’t a problem for the adult community that plays classic. A measured, scheduled, approach to WoW is healthy.
We already have bought mounts, bought pets, tokens and RDF in Wrath and it’s no big deal. Mounts are purely decorative. Folks should have figured out by now that pixels are cute but not permanent and that ppl can use their disposable income however they want with no harm to others.
Is Cata Classic? No. Will it be perfectly fun content to do with the guys? Yes.
It’s free real estate. Blizz spends very little for a decent marginal return on old content. I think the faster pace is a good idea (for them) and I think they are working hard at how to get classic players an onramp to War Within that makes sense to both communities.
Do I personally plan to play retail? Hell no. But folks get attached to their characters and their communities and Blizz knows this.
Yah AND. Who gives a rip if there aren’t enough players for it. Create an idea that will attract more people then.
They could easily do a wrath classic bloody plus. And I would be bloody fine with that.
OR what they are doing with this stupid pandaria gimmick they got going in retail right now. Make permanent wrath classic era where you get a bonus for creating new toons. And give loot for bronze and stuff to obtain mounts and pets and whatever else on both classic and retail clients. Not that hard.
Like seriously. To HECK with you blizzard.
The owners of blizzard stock who expect to see a return on their investment. That’s how capitalism works.
You don’t think blizzard has been trying year after year to come up with ideas that will attract more people? Yet year after year players are complaining and canceling subs. If it were that easy not only would retail still have 12 million players but every video game company would be making games that had 12 million or more players.
Ok. then how the heck has classic plus and classic som taken off. Oh yah. Because it was an idea that bloody worked. And the same thing could easily work for wrath classic to.
there’s already too many game modes splitting the player base
there’s Classic era
Hardcore
Season of Discovery
Wotlk
Retail
and you’d want there to be even more low pop servers with a handful of people standing in dalaran afk wondering why their RDF queue says 6+ hrs.
Have they really taken off? I’ve never seen official numbers of players or any information on profit margins. How many people are actually paying a sub for them? Did the addition of those games increase subs? And more important, how many wow players would unsub if those games didn’t exist?
Splitting up the playerbase how. You are only splitting up the people between who wants this thing and those who are quitting if this thing doesn’t happen.
Like the only split that will happen with not getting permanent wrath classic servers, is that those wrath classic permanent players will just not be playing anymore. Like end of story. It isn’t like the lot of them would be playing cata classic anyways. So no one is really being split on that one.
At that point you are just driving players away and to not play the game anymore. So I don’t understand the whole, splitting up the playerbase thing.
Now, they could have an idea to drive traffic to a permanent wrath classic server. Like what they are doing with retail atm. Like with the pandaria idea. Make it so if you make a fresh character on a permanent wrath classic realm. You get points and stuff like that that allow you to get mounts and all that fun stuff in both retail and classic versions of the game. It honestly would be pretty cool.
Also. If blizzard is supposed to be this all inclusive company. Why aren’t they including us permanent wrath classic players then. Guess they aren’t inclusive and they hate us.
How many people do you think that is? Blizzard is betting it won’t be that many and I’d make that bet too.
every additional server for a new game mode is a resource, requires maintenance, management, hotfixes
a resource for what honestly looks to be a pretty small population…
hence why there was no major backlash to not having a tbc-era
turns out the complainers were a tiny %
Shut up, the ability to choose and not be given a binary is a good thing. We just need there to be sod/plus, vanilla, tbc+, wrath+, pandaland, and legion.
there’s a reason people like you aren’t in charge of anything
If an idiot like you had your way there would be no classic just forced progression, a non-split playerbase is forced progression.
