Why would the populatiom go up? Are classic era servers full with queues and constant content being run? No, its just there existing with their problems of inflation and people not playing. What makes you think wrath era would bring more people in?
it’s not that cata is coming too fast
it’s just that Times flies.
i can’t even believe that we’re 19weeks into ICC, it feels like yesterday
It would go up, because people won’t feel like they are wasting their time and money.
Don’t know why you are comparing era with wrath. Wrath has always been the more popular version, even on the ps scene.
B
Nonsense lol
Because you want wrath to be forever like era and I showed you not even the clsssic crowd that wanted vanilla and “fought” so hard for it they dont evem play it. Why arent era servers full and with queue times like the girst fotm month? Why?
Cata isn’t coming fast enough. People are burnt out on ICC and many have said they will be back for Cataclysm but the problem is guilds are dying daily. The burn out is happening on both ends. You have people tired of killing the same bosses. Which is to be expected, there is even some population drop expected as the each xpac comes to it’s end. The problem is the people that want to keep going are also getting burnt out because recruiting has been abysmal for months. People are getting frustrated as more and more people go MIA and the buff is nice to help cover an absence or two, but SO many guild leaders are folding because they are getting burnt out trying to recruit and getting nothing. Running a raid with 5+ people missing and not being able to prog on that final boss or worse, not being able to re-clear bosses on heroic that have been on farm because you’re just missing too many people is frustrating your remaining base and killing the excitement for Cataclysm.
Believe it or not, people like myself backed to get the ball rolling. We have other expansions we wanted. Not everyone thought vanilla was the end all, be all. It was an avenue to open up other expansions.
That being said, blizzard has done everything in their power to sabotage wrath. But, a bigger following than you think for it, if people just knew there was an era server to look forward to.
But, people have to option not to play it, instead of arguing against it.
all the whining I am seeing is making me wish it would launch today
People told us that when they asked for vanilla era. They talked about how popular vanilla was on private servers and how it was gonna be as populated as BC, or even more popular. I didn’t know anything about private servers so I took them at their word. I supported era servers even though I thought it couldn’t be true. I thought no one was gonna sit on a server to continue playing a game they just spent 2 years playing. But people convinced me I was wrong. Turns out I was right and vanilla era was dead. If wrath era comes it’ll be dead too. As someone much smarter than you said:

Maybe if they had handled the cloning better, I might still have my lvl 60 to go back to.
Vanilla, TBC, and Wrath are 3 different games though.
Vanilla sucks, TBC is ok, Wrath is where its at.
How much time can you dedicate to the game?
What is your goal in the game?
What are you doing during that time?
There’s a group that claim Vanilla is the best. A group that claims BC is the best. And a group that claims wrath is the best. etc. I don’t get why you think any one would care what your personal opinion of the best game is.
I don’t need to be told what I’ve told you already…
First… It’s not your prerogative if 5 ppl want to play classic WoD for the rest of their lives; as long as the company wants to provide it; as long as those 5 players are willing to pay for it.
Second, nobody cares for your personal opinions about if you would get bored playing a particular expansion indefinitely.
Of course it isn’t. But it is my prerogative to explain to you on the Wrath of the LIch King Classic Discussion Forum the reality that most of us and blizzard can see. That there’s just not enough players that fell in love with wrath era to make it economically feasible. The key word there is Discussion. Since you seem unclear of the meaning you should look it up. That’s why the forum is here.
And as I’ve already said…
It’s just a numbers game between demographics. How many of you VS how many of me want to play or pay for a particular version…
Now I’m going out on a limb. My initial estimate based on my own guesses only, tell me that the Wrath, even the TBC, demographic is bigger than vanilla-classics.
Why should classic era exist over a TBC or Wrath one, if they are the smaller demographic?
I am by no means asking you to go around digging for information but, are they? The bigger demographic compared to TBC or Wrath?
They should axe classic era and give us Wrath era instead; force the classic Andy’s onto a Wrath server if they don’t like it.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again… I hope those of you pushing to get WoTLK servers get your wish, leave me be so I can get my Cataclysm server.
It’s hard to tell which is larger when the number of players who will play any game forever is so small. The vast majority of players want to play a game for a couple years, then move onto something else. Face reality, almost no one wants to play any game forever.
But if it’s a numbers game as you’re claiming, why is classic era up and running and not a TBC or Wrath era? If we decided to dig around for data, I think the data is going to show that I’m right about TBC and Wrath demographics being bigger.
Then by that same logic, I reiterate, why is classic-era up and running? It should have been given the axe along with TBC and soon to be Wrath.
Don’t just tell it to me. Tell it to the classic Andy’s that have an era server running…
Where I might be returning to after Wrath just out of pure default, not because I prefer classic-era.
I suspect there’s some legal reason making it easier to protect their intellectual property by keeping the first game in such a long series of expansions up.
And that’s a major reason you’re unlikely to get wrath era. Blizzard doesn’t care how populated a wrath era server might be. The number they care about is how many will only play wrath era and unsub if it’s not there. You just announced that you won’t unsub if there’s no wrath era.
Even if it’s costing them money for keeping such servers up for a small population?
It’s not going to be what you think.
