RS really does feel like a filler dungeon added in the retail stream of releases just to tie us over. Not sure why it is gated as copy paste content especially since people rolling into RS with near bis from icc are just going to absolutely steam roll it for that minor upgrade in 1 or 2 slots so we can level harder in cata
And this right here is the core of the problem. This “season” nonsense. Gotta hit the top of that ladder everyone! Gotta push those M+ keystones! I miss the days when that was restricted to the arena only.
8 months of ICC and 6 months of Ruby Sanctum… people going to have 5+ characters geared out…
What’s funny is blizzard has always said they wanted xpacs to only last a year or so in the first place.
More content faster was their way of thinking since bc came out.
Honestly there is no real reason for an xpac to last more than maybe 16 months. And that really comes down to content updates. 4 major raids. 4 months each. Won’t get all that gear u want. But isn’t that kinda the point?
Wrath died the second the added the scaling buff to ICC. Halion is just the dead cat bounce the timing for cata classic is appropriate. WoW has a future it’s cata and it’s great.
I don’t know why they are announcing so early cata is coming next August or before that, and then rushing out the ICC buff and Ruby sanctum
are they purposely trying to drain Wrath of players so they will try janky SoD?
I haven’t raided since pre-Sunwell TBC, mostly because the amount of effort and time investment is too much for my ADD brain to handle; my point (that you either missed or ignored) was that shortening the length of time for expansions would require greater effort within that timeframe to achieve the same result, since most players aren’t in the same camp as the people rushing Ramparts/Slave Pens to hit 70 as fast as possible or the people requiring full-Sunwell for UK runs early on in Wrath. Those people don’t have the amount of free time needed to do what they want to do, while your idea solely caters to the people who consider the endgame the only worthwhile part of the game and the leveling process little more than a chore to be gotten out of the way as fast as possible.
See, that’s the exact thinking that led me to the 14-hour comment; as someone currently working full-time, it’d take me something like a week (without JJ active) to maybe clear one or two Northrend zones of quests, maybe getting three or four levels in the process, assuming WoW’s the only thing I spend my limited spare time on, something unlikely due to the ADD brain mentioned above.
I’m 33, so that’d be literally 42 years from now and without some serious changes to the world, the only time I’ll be retired is AFTER I’m dead.
Again, you’re assuming that this game is all we’re spending time on instead of jobs, family, other hobbies (I enjoy reading physical books, for example), or even other games. Hell, I’m using some of my free time to write something to hopefully get OUT of my meatspace job and do something interesting with my life.
FOMO’s a good way to get people to spend money; just look at Destiny 2 or Fortnite, for example.
dear god why wasn’t 22 weeks of ulduar enough for you people?
We had two pre-patches with Cata cause it was so big. The first pre-patch was all the class/mechanics/UI changes, the pre-patch event, and the new water/lava/slime/sunglare stuff. The second pre-patch was the new Azeroth.
It was some of the most fun I’ve had in WoW, especially just making template toons and doing world pvp on the 4.0.1 PTR. I’ll never forget that fun.
Don’t bother. The dude is wildly out of touch with what the average player is. “Just drop everything and no life it!”.
“Noody wants cata”
Wait so the surveys for tbc and wrath were legit but the one for cataclysm were fake?
It would have to be 12 months. Most expansions have 4 phases, 3 months per phase = 1 year.
I don’t use joyous journey unless I’m in Northrend, it throws off the pace of quests. I’m not counting 80-85, I’m counting 1-60 or 1-80. 1-85 I’m not certain of yet, it’s been a long time since Cataclysm. “It sounds like a personal problem” Even if I dropped everything besides Wrath when it launched, I would still have more to do in the game.
It shouldn’t have to be a bloody race. If it goes too slowly for you, play another game in the meantime!
Hard disagree. By the time cata launches wrath classic will have been out for almost 2 years, pretty much the same as the original wrath. Waaaaay too long imo. Cataclysm should launch in February.
Players should have the option to choose which expansion they enjoy, end of story. Blizz still gets their 15 bucks a month
no TBC or Wrath even offered, yet 3 experimental versions of Vanilla & many like me are going to quit when cata is forcefully pushed out
this 1000 times, i wish they will just stop for some time trying to push new content into us. playerbase is divided enough, no game mode is healthy atm even SOD is suffering now from this. Ppl yesterady in raid weere comenting the same thing, SOD is booring, nothing to do. WOTLK is booring 30% needs to come faster, Retail is booring raids too hard nobody playing it.
Let this game die already, make 1 new WOW and unify all this data you been gathering all this time.
Which is nonsense due to the level cap having JUST been increased so there should be plenty to do…unless of course they’re making that up just to complain about something they’re not doing.
Depends? Many people think sod is boring
Levelling 25 to 40 is the same as it used to be for around 20 years now.
Cata is not coming fast enough. WOTLK is DEAD. Time to move things along.
That was another “enough people”, they never said majority. They just hope to shepherd the sheep to cata, by not giving…choice…in the form of wrath era servers.
The population in wrath would go up, if they would do era servers and ANNOUNCE it. Otherwise, people don’t want to waste time or money.
