well i like cata and i prefer it over wotlk so its my turn to have fun,as you had raidloging on wotlk for a year with 0 content outside of raiding.at least i can do rbgs

Vanilla is the top MMORPG. Period.
TBC & Wrath had very solid content.
There’s absolutely nothing Cata onwards does better than Vanilla TBC and Wrath. Everything literally becomes worse. MoP is ok.

Delusional take. Vanilla is probably up there for worst version of WoW. Cata is better in every single way including class and game design. Vanilla should never ever be released again. You have era. Go play that.

It’s always funny to me, they parade classic/vanilla around as this absolute unobtainable peak when in reality the game was only good because everything else sucked more.
Then classic pops out a massive nostalgia high for a bit.
Now they’re basically dead servers. Sure, there is a population on them and the game is playable, but for being the “top MMORPG. Period.” it ain’t looking so hot lmao

Vanilla only got where it did because MMOs as a genre were still a novel concept back in 2004, and its competition was…Everquest. From the very beginning WoW prided itself on being EQ for casuals
If Vanilla WoW released today, brand new, without its own legacy to carry itself, it would’ve been a bigger laughing stock than New World

Late response but, I dont see how Cata is the an easy expansion, look at fights such as Heroic Rag or Heroic Spine, the fights were extremely hard for the world first kill. Sure its nothing compared to retail mythic raiding but compared to wrath its a major step up compared in difficulty. Also very few people care about the open world, as I said vast majority of players would be afk in Dalaran or doing instanced content.

Then count me to the minority doing mainly open world content and finding Cata not fun because it’s too easy. In OG WoW this began in mid-Wrath, now in Classic actually from the start of Wrath because Classic Wrath was build on 3.3.5.
It became intolerably not fun for me in Cata first time around, so I do not see why I should care to repeat this experience once again.

Except no incursions, more streamlined quests, etc. Its more like SoD feels like Cata .5 with vanilla mechanics. I enjoyed SoD and will prob return with phase 4 but incursions burnt me out quick and the rest of the world feels pretty dead right now.
This time around you might actually kill heroic raid bosses instead of quest mobs.
- Raids are not tempting for me.
- I would hate every second of the way there, and as I stopped levelling when Cata was announced, that way is far.
Nope, I’ll not even be logging in to Cata, still hoping for a Wrath Era server.

Thanks, but I love WoW and have enough to do for a long time to come in Era and HC - of course I would love Era servers for TBC and Wrath as well, and HC versions of these would leave me with nothing more to ask for.

Sounds like Blizzard wanted a specific response, got it, and used it as enough leverage to push something that people didn’t really want, but didn’t want to provide enough avenues to say “no” to.
I’ve deleted Cata Classic from my library. That’s about the best response I can provide, now.
