Cat call whistle emote removed, but chestless transmog allowed

Ok, back to the whistle in a video game. I’m glad it got removed so that

  1. My characters don’t get disrespected in a video game and I don’t feel uncomfortable. (I had a guy whistle at me all throughout a dungeon. Wish I had known about ignore then.)
  2. Most quests that use a whistle are used for animals. I don’t want to wolf whistle animals or anyone for that matter.

Treat other how you want to be treated. There, that’s all I have to say about that. And with that, I’m out.

Sorry, I’m being stupid over here. I wasn’t aware of them making those powerhouses of games.

My point is Nintendo isn’t pandering to any political side. Hence by, “Bastion of freedom”. We’re free from ridiculous political pandering there.

Maybe I want to wolf-whistle that turtle. Don’t you judge me, that’s not PC.

I’m treating this with the same amount of seriousness it deserves. This is such a stupid thing to be upset about.

What’s next, removing the zebra cushion toy because some butt-hurt member of PETA screeches whenever he sees it?

Thread should have ended here. Anything else said about this subject is dumb.

That turtle is pretty hot.

Replying to your earlier post, Nintendo is Japanese and Projekt Red is Swedish.

It’s mostly American companies that are doing this PC garbage. We have a very strange culture.

Oh, it’s alright.

Oh. So basically Apolitical.

I guess i did kinda forget that those two devs do love to touch on their politics sometimes in a way that hardly offends as they often do in either lending itself to the story in such a natural way or just played up over the top and hyperbolic to a point of parody. Meanwhile Nintendo is for kiddies, wholesome family friendly fun.

…Until you remember we had Conker’s Bad Fur Day on the N64, No more Heroes on the Wii, Skyrim on the Switch and half of the NES games based off of R rated movies… OOPS. :man_facepalming: (This bit has nothing to do with what were discussing, it’s a little gag i decided to pull out of a hat. )

Yeah, you nailed it.

Us gamers want to AVOID PC and political nonsense. Not get dragged into it in our own getaways.

Nintendo seems to understand this. Hence why they seem to be dominating the video game world right now.

Can you imagine how great it would be if Blizzard was bought by Nintendo instead of Activision?

I think Voidelf Priests are super hawt!

It’s a completely valid question…

Males and Females are now allowed to walk around shirtless, but simultaneously, we are forced to repress any sexual desire towards this at the same time.

It just seems extremely counterintuitive to the idea of removing an emote that expresses physical attraction at the same time. I’m just pointing that out, I’m not here to troll, I’d just like to discuss this whole contradiction a bit further.

If a character decides to get naked in the middle of a raid as a joke, can we not whistle at them for fun while we wait for the group to get together?? This is how I discovered that the cat call whistle was removed.

In before thread gets removed for making too much sense.

depending on where you live.

what does cat calling have to do with free speech?
…because it sounds like you need to educate yourself on what that term means.

i take it you’re male.
pretend you have a daughter.
…and that daughter walks past a worksite, with a dozen rabid males all whistling and whooping and hollering, and imagine how safe she feels in a situation like that.
…and when she chooses to walk on by and ignore it, it escalates, and suddenly they’re calling her frigid and all sorts of other charming things.

Your opinion on the subject, only shows ignorance.

truth =/= trolling :slight_smile:

Gotta say, for once I agree with you here. Thank you.

Being offended because someone whistled at your video game character is pretty stupid. Being offended by a cat call in real life i can understand. Some women love being cat called because they find it flattering because they crave the attention, and some are offended by it. Its whatever. But we are talking about your VIDEO GAME CHARACTER. like, not your own actual body. Your collection of pixels. Toughen up. I mean, how weak willed can you possibly even get.

There is already a completely different whistle sound for that though; which has been in the game since the beginning, alongside the cat call whistle.

It’s a game. These are fictional characters that we are playing as, not our actual selves. And besides, there’s still the /flirt and /kiss emotes. If those aren’t offensive, then why is the cat call whistle?

Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention the /sexy emote.

I fail to see any equivalence between a sound directed at someone else, and an option in how you can choose to appear.

It’s a game avatar, calm down no one is looking at you the avatar as meat.

Are you equating a real life situation to a game? There are places in Boralus Harbor that would be incredibly dangerous for a woman to be walking around alone… if this were real. In fact, the entire game world would be dangerous to ANYONE if it were real. But it’s not.

Telling someone they suck is meaner than using /whistle. The only times I ever saw that emote used were between guildies who knew each other.

If a simple whistle is considered sexual harassment now, then the end of the human species is on the horizon. I mean, you cant exactly get it on and have babies without someone expressing sexual interest in somebody at some point. Sheesh.
