The fact is, the top 3-5% of arena are highly competitive and they hate losing.
Let’s look at the consequences for capping shuffle MMR for instance -
Firstly - it is annoying because you are grinding hard, barely moving up and find it much more difficult to acquire rewards.
Secondly and most importantly - it puts players who are of inferior skill level with much more experienced players and when they are making huge mistakes that are not normally seen at the X level of game play, it does nothing but cause the lobby to make snarky rude remarks, makes the lesser expierenced player go on the defensive and or complain.
This season alone I have seen more toxicity, bickering, complaining, people crying about MMR and how unfair it feels than any other season , blah blah blah. Just fix it and move on, stop capping it, it should never be capped ever. I thought this was learned after the prior seasons in DF where it was capped, people complained and quit and then it was uncapped and the ladder flourished.
If the idea is to simply cap arena and not cap RBGs to force people into RBGs, this would be the most toxic design I have ever seen. I like to think that’s not what’s going on but why else would RBGS be uncapped tbh?
it’s so bad when your a 2500 legend player one season and then the next season do to no fault of your own youre hardstuck 16hundo and then by some miracle blizzard injects MMR again and then your back up to 2500 again its just so stupid and annoying this system and blizzard is totally silent about it all
Threads like this are exactly why people said original gladiator never should’ve changed + mmr should never have hit sls2 numbers.
Soooooo many people have a false sense of where they actually are skill wise. You basically have to maintain that insane mmr or people feel cheated. (Even tho they’re not)
There’s a similar thing going on with keys where people are having breaks over blowing up a +8 after breezing through +20s a couple of years ago. It’s like the game is broken if people aren’t slamming their head into the reward ceiling by the second week of the 5-7 month season.
I think people say they want consistency, but more than anything they want to be higher rated.
Because blizzard cannot control how many people play at what level and when they play. Players will always gravitate to where rating is the easiest, especially at the lower end, which naturally causes that bracket to “inflate” and others to “deflate”.
there are ZERO people over 2400 in shuffle, this is the most deflated it has ever been… and yes, when the distribution changes every season, people understandably have no idea where they stand. we’re not asking for free gladiator.
Nah, that is pretty much what people are asking for. There are zero rewards in the game outside of R1 that haven’t been reduced to a borderline pity award and yet players still don’t have enough.
The actual issue here is that most people think they should be able to attain “Elite” or something to that effect in Shuffle due to S1 DF, they believe they should be able to attain “Elite” in 3s due to Shadowlands.
