Cancel culture

A channel I watched about dissociative personality disorder also got hit with the cancel culture bat. This channel got bullied by Trisha Paytas and her fans. Then people got mad that she wanted to take a break from social media for her mental health. So now she’s not coming back at all.

I’m retired was 8541, that designation has since been changed. Now I’m showing my age . . .

Places like twitter and facebook are the cesspools of the internet. Get rid of those and the werld will be a better place.

Speaking of “cancel culture”. I’d love to see those idiots try that on me. Would never werk.

I’ll copy over what I wrote in another thread on this topic.

The full statement is ‘Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law’ but Twitter and other social media platforms are not courts of law and cannot be held to the same process/standard as a court of law.

But even if we did hold it to the standard of a court of law, there are two ways that this can be worked out in that system. Take for example the case of OJ Simpson. He won the legal case against him, but he lost the civil suit. Why? Because as far as the legal case is concerned all 12 jurors needed to find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, which they did not do. But in the civil suit, only 9/12 jurors needed to be convinced that the preponderance of evidence showed that he did it.

The term ‘Preponderance of evidence’ is just another fancy way of saying that there’s a 50% chance or higher that the accused did what he is accused of. In civil cases, the burden of proof starts with the plaintiff (aka the victim) but then shifts to the defendant (aka the accused) once a moderate amount of evidence establishes the claim and yes, in a court of law, witness testimonies are considered evidence.

Not really. People would just go somewhere else.

Social media was a mistake.

All social media does is provide communication that wasn’t available before. The cesspit people would still be around. They’d just be off in little pockets around the world.

Hopefully back to tumblr where they came from.

A famous comedian once said something along the words of:

It used to be that you had a fetish and you didn’t tell anyone. You hid in your basement like the freak that you are. Now with the internet you discover there are more like you. You have conventions, you form groups and now it’s a “lifestyle”.

Yeah, Social Media has stretch the boundaries of insanity in humanity.

Tumblr changed their rules to avoid having adult themed art and gifs to avoid some of the more. Predatory I should say people. Those people didn’t go away. They migrated to other places. The MAPS on Twitter are BOLD with how proudly they say they’re predators. Eugh

Not always the case of overwhelming evidence. There have been many cases where someone has been accused of a heinous crime, lose their livelihood then for it to come out that they were innocent and the person who made the allegations for revenge or to cause misery for their own amusement.

Or in Johnny Depps case the accuser was the abuser.

Proper course of action should be administrative leave (paid or unpaid depending on severity) and waiting for the court to decide.

Though it is important that some contracts employees enter have a clause where damaging PR incidents is justifiable cause for termination.

I mean fetishes are mostly harmless. It’s the paraphelia people you have to keep an eye on

I didn’t have the right word on my mind when I paraphrased that. I agree with you.

Cancel culture only aim relevant people for clout, this is not something an average Joe will face.

Plot twist: He/She is a famous celebrity playing wow!

Cancel culture as people call it, has aleays existed is a quasi, defense sistem of communities, to estay away from social dangers.

People that are prosecuted by justice sistems are isoleted from the rest of the group, even if they were o r not guilty.

People that are victims of rumors, are also isloted and made fun of tje group even if tjey are inocent.

Cancel culture, existed since humans were social, as defense mechanism against social suicide situation. For good or bad

In communist countries a good way to get rid of say, a neighbor you don’t like, is to tell the authorities they were smack talking the Government.
