Canadian Dollar (CAD) Price Change for World of Warcraft Game Time (Excludes Subscriptions)

this is activision, they would create a new pet, raise sub prices and raise expansion prices all at the same time. Why do 1 thing when you screw over your customers instead. because short term gains are more important to them than long term profits.

Y’all are screeching and this doesn’t even affect regular subs. It’s only balance game time and token conversion, which if you are…

  • Buying tokens in game converting and paying a sub, suck it up because it’s still not costing you anything but gold acquisition time.

  • Buying tokens for $25 and converting to balance and then paying a sub, in which case what in the blazes are you even doing??

Federal HST imposition on the other hand, by all means continue screeching over that.

Hi! Canadian here

I’m sure you know this, but currently the Canadian dollar is the strongest it has been in a year in comparison to the USD. 1 CAD = 0.79 USD

So why this change now, and not when it was it was worth 0.70 USD?

your actually better off on the first cause the costs of services hasn’t changed… it effectively makes everything on the shop cost less gold.

South American currencies are the same where the sub cost is cheap but the game time costs more, as the game-time can be gifted, even to people who use a more expensive currency. In effect this is Blizzard reclassifying the CAD as a “weaker” currency.

Just keep in mind your game is barely worth the $14.95 per month anyway,so you better get busy with bonus store mounts that fly if you want cash.

77.94 USD is 99.27$ CAD Blizzard. At worse it’s 105CAD… Not 115 CAD. You are charging Canadians 15$ more… Not sure to understand your reasoning at all.

Holy crap you guys read the article better

a 6 month sub is 97.99$ CAD currently, even after this change because the sub price isn’t changing.

Looks better to investors.

WOW…uh… this is not a negligible change at all. It’s quite the hike up. May need to seriously reconsider my sub. My former argument of “well people spend more going out and drinking” doesn’t really hold water now since no one goes out anymore lol…

EDIT: Oh I see regular recurring subs are unaffected. It’s just for the individual purchase of game time. Still a crappy move. Many people can only commit to 1 or so month at a time. Wasn’t it enough to use free mounts and mogs to encourage subs… yeesh.

I’ve tried multiple times to get my 6 month sub refunded for any amount of money because I just see this xpac going down bill fast if the first month has showed us anything. Since I’m subbed I’ll see what’s up time to time. When it’s done I’m over it I’ll being going to ff 14. Might reactivate my account soon tbh

Not understanding your statement.
They said : 180 Days Game Time new price is 115.99
So the sub price is changing… They already change the current price. My previous 6 months sub was 106$CAD

Considering the rate of inflation, which is around 2% a year in the US, and considering the rising cost of games over time, this decision surprises me. Because it’s long delayed. If the US price does not increase, I will also be surprised.

So now 6000 people will blast blizz as greedy as they rage. Not one of them able to comprehend what is among the most basic concepts of global markets and exchange rates.

The simplfied version…dont blame a business for adjusting their costs to exchange rates. Blame the economy.

Canadians pay $7 more than U.S.? That’s actually ridiculous. I don’t even think XIV is that high.
Any Canadians play it to answer this?

Literally racist scumbags.

This is my thought as well.

How can your previous 6-month sub be $106 CAD? You are probably mistaken. I payed for a 6-month sub just recently (it auto-renews and has been for more than 10 years now) and it was $97.99 CAD. That was on October 13, 2020, according to my bank statement. And Blizzard mentioned in the OP that subscription is not gonna be affected.

I personally don’t understand what the difference between game time and subscription is since I have always bought subscriptions for WoW and that has been on-going since Vanilla released.

Doesn’t surprise me at all.

I just got a notification in the last week or two that the sub price for Netflix is also going up in January.

I just hope with an increase in subscription price, we might see more content/incentives/etc. I know Netflix announced that with their sub increase they would be providing more.

I personally don’t mind if there is an increase. But I know this is upsetting/will upset people.
