This will be shortly followed by an increase to USD direct purchase game time over the subscription price. Probably after the holidays.
There’s only one reason for this. Too many people were buying their game time from balance derived from buying wow tokens. You can’t buy the subscription with balance, only direct bill, so they’re penalizing the way you can play for ‘free’. Have to get that profit margin up, right boys?
As the Canadian economy continues to plummet due to being entirely reliant on selling real estate or oil in that real estate (over 60% of canadians are employed in these fields), they wonder why prices keep getting worse and worse. someones gotta pay for the free healthcare too lol

Then why bother going so far above exchange rates? I can afford the increase even though it has no effect on me, but it is the straw that broke the camels back for myself and I imagine quite a few others.

Us Australians got slugged with the same thing, so I feel for ya Canada. Exchange rate excuses are and always will be a load of crap, since they never offered us a cheaper rate when our dollar was strong and this won’t go back down when the currencies reach better parity again.

Like someone else stated, they’re probably de-valuing the game tokens BNET balance $'s, who knows. All I’m stating is all the QQ’s of people cancelling their subscriptions cause the cost of buying 30, 90 and 180 days of GAME time went up… price of 1, 3 and 6 month subscriptions remains unchanged.
This is actually what I’m prolly gonna do. I’ve played FFXIV quite a few times in the past and really enjoyed it. Always stuck around WoW because nostalgia/collections etc, but honestly, things change.
Time to move along, once and for all. I’m not interested in pouring dollars on the doorstep of ActiBlizz CEOs anymore.

Is there such thing as good news from Blizzard anymore? I swear everything they do is nothing, but anti-consumer.
After-tax for some US people, it would be around 16.47 USD is about 21 CAD. So why is Canada $22, or 17.24 USD since I doubt this is tax included? I personally only pay $16.34 USD for a sub.

I’ve posted the exact reason and people never bothered to read it. It’s because of our government here in Canada putting a tax on everything coming in that isn’t Canadian. Look at other services that are increasing rates, starting in January mind you unlike Blizzard.
