04/19/2018 09:17 AMPosted by EllilaineWhat is this "we" garbage? I never once asked for it.
"we" as in the people that WERE asking for it in vanilla.
Please no. Only thing worse is cross servers
Obvious troll.
The AH argument is a stupid one. It’s supply and demand either way, and even that is throttled by the in game available coin.
With a few ground rules like per character transmog(not account wide)
And you must loot the item to tmog it, I see no issue with this at all.
It’s funny how everyone complaining about it is transmogged themselves. Irony and stupidity at its fineat.
First of all ^ lolol.
And, not necessarily. Transmog has a place in a certain setting, retail, for instance. It's not about liking or disliking transmog (which I assume is the meaning of your reference at the end of your post). I love transmog, but it has no place in vanilla due to the loot system. We don't need people rolling on gear because they simply want to collect an appearance. It's hard enough to obtain the gear you need in vanilla without having people roll for cosmetic reasons.
The odds of bliz adding this to classic are slim to none.

Cue sad piano music.
Part of the fun for me back in BC when I started playing WoW (Nov. 2007) was trying to maximize my gear while looking like a total clown because NOTHING matched :P

0/10 intelligence
10/10 Irony
No no no no no... and no!!!
So why could you preview how you looked if transmog was never intended?
Why even have this if you can't change how you look?
That feature is pretty useless without tmog. What save a low level green from becoming soulbound? Oh yea city clothes. Lol.
You guys are stuck on how it works on retail.
Seems like the only reason it was implemented like that was to have some use for old content again. Look at how it's evolved since then.
More than one way to do this.
This PvP advantage bs is something else.
Was this even thought of when tmog was added or is this another clutch at w/e might sound like a big impact to deter this from happening?

04/18/2018 09:28 AMPosted by SlugsWhen an item drops, everyone gets the cosmetic added if they are in group. This will lessen the urge to need on green that are not needed.
And THAT will be the main drawback to t'mog in "classic." Remember the hunters rolling "need" on int gear? EVERYONE will be rolling "need" on t'mog gear, even though there's a player that can actually USE that piece of gear. How would someone feel if they lost the roll on a piece of gear that would increase their baseline stats, to someone who's just going to use it to change their appearance? Say good-bye to any sense of "community" that may be developed in "classic" .....
04/18/2018 08:22 AMPosted by Overpowderedone of the only things that wouldn't change how the community interacts with one another
I'm not going to assume we're getting tons of UI updates and changes with classic, so with that in mind, in vanilla you could not see enemy health. You could download the MobHealth addon and it would estimate enemy health after you hit it at least once in order to calculate % to raw numbers based on damage you dealt, but that's it.
So transmog could impact PvP, when in vanilla judging a player by their max HP was not an option. Whether it's game breaking, I don't know, but it's definitely a change.
It also introduces a market that wasn't part of vanilla, which is farming and selling low level greens for exhorbitant prices. It impacts the server economy, and makes things more difficult for leveling lowbies that just want to fill in some gaps in their gear once in a while. Vanilla didn't have as many items as modern WoW. You're not likely to see pages and pages of level 20 gear. The alternatives to high-priced high-demand transmog gear won't be there.
Additionally, vanilla didn't have as many unique art assets as we have post-cataclysm. Blizz remade and added a lot of 1-60 art assets, probably specifically for their upcoming transmog idea. Every 10 levels there's a new set of art assets used on armor, including a few recolors available. This was not the case in vanilla. Transmog to avoid everybody looking the same may just result in everybody looking the same anyway when matching art assets in your armor type are limited.
I have issues with transmog. It's a very half-assed, poorly implemented wardrobe system almost every game with such as system has done better. Reasons mentioned above are part of the problem. Transmog as it is should not be implemented into classic. It would have to be changed and tweaked significantly, such as only allowing players to add items they personally looted and those pieces don't unlock on live WoW. This would avoid impacting the auction house gear market, and likely cut down on ninja looting for transmog spec.
That's more work than I think blizz wants to put into transmog.
But suffice to say transmog does impact the game and economy.
04/19/2018 08:17 AMPosted by Starman04/19/2018 06:12 AMPosted by TyándraI would have been in favor if Blizzard had actually implemented a GOOD wardrobe system in the first place.
"Transmogrification" is just plain garbage the way they did it.
It's literally the system we've been asking for since vanilla.
No, it literally is not.
It's a cumbersome idiotic system where the obvious choice would have been to implement a second, cosmetic set of slots which override the slots of your actual gear.
Instead they gave it in the form of a money sink for which you have to visit an NPC in a city.
I can't imagine what kind of masochist you have to be to actually DEFEND that idiotic idea.

No it isn't. Transmog is a clunky system with marginal at best functionality. They can do better, and should have done better. Putting it on an NPC instead of a cosmetic character sheet was a stupid idea, plain and simple. Some of the arbitrary restrictions are just that--arbitrary. Can't mog a fish but you can tank a raid in a plate bikini. Screw that.
I've played other games with superior wardrobe systems. Lotro's was perfect. Even Swtor's is better and it's clunky by many people's standards.
Wow's system is arbitrarily limited and clunky. I have used the crap out of it, but that doesn't change the fact that as far as wardrobe systems go, it's not a good one.

ESO has a transmog system as well as a dye system and costumes as well.
That seems to work out pretty well.
Nobody is fighting over gear because it's not the gear that makes the outfit.
Things called style books drop..learn the book and you learn the style and can change your gear to look like that style and then dye it different colors.

I agree. WoW really does have a terrible transmog system with not only how restricted it is, but how inconsistent the restrictions are.
A mage can mog the SW guard armor which is plate, but apparently other plate armor would be to much. Makes no sense.

So you were making posts for us? No, you weren't. I don't care what you think of the system, it's what we asked for.

On what planet can a mage mog plate? The SW set is listed specifically as *COSMETIC*. It doesn't even say plate on it.

Someone create a "Top ten worst ever QoL changes implemented by Blizzard" thread and put Transmog at #2.
#1 was flying mounts
#2 transmog
#3 LFR/LFD and cross realm
#4 character boosts
#5 loss of professions as an integral aspect of character progression
#6 quest nerfing
#7 removal of talent trees
#8 hero classes (dk, demon hunter, etc.)
#9 gold selling
#10 destroying the vanilla world for new expansions

Are those whole looks, i.e. head to toe? Or can you mix and match?
