Can we keep transmog in Vanilla?

No to transmog please, thank you.
i have to agree with everyone here,no to transmog simply because it ruins the nostalgia feeling which is the whole point of vanilla WoW,you see when you implement transmog into classic WoW the whole feeling of "ah i remember back in the day where everyone looked like clowns cause the gear sets didnt match but were benefiting them" goes away. Its a part of vanilla, its simply a chunk that shouldn't be taken out, knowing that every gear you see on the person is legit the gear they are wearing.Nowdays its not needed since a lot of the leveling gear is one or 2 set models and a lot of the artstyle changed throughout the years so its best for the player to choose which style goes well as a full set and what can they mix with it
If they aren't going to have achievements or allow things from Classic to go account-wide into Live... Why would they allow transmog?

No. Transmog is a great feature. But it has no place in Classic.
Having a character look "hodgepodged" or "clown-like" is one of the driving factors to forge further into the game... especially with raid sets that were designed to look amazing together.
"Keep" is not the right term. It was never in vanilla.

I've been pushing for years for a toggle to turn off viewing other peoples transmogs. Its the best solution. You get to see your character how you want to see it and I get to turn off the feature I hate.

But no. Blizz never gives us the toggle therefor I will still say no to adding transmog to classic.
Everyone being ugly save for the few people who have gone out of their way to get full sets while leveling or the glorious full raid tiers is absolutely paramount to classic feeling like classic to me. I was one of those people gawking at all the cool raiders the entire time I leveled. I still remember the first time I saw a paladin in t2 with hand of rag while I was in my scrub blues and ZG epix. The desire was really strong.
No.

Technically it was. Hiding cloak and helmet is transmog.
Only way you can do it in game is at the transmog guy in the current game.

When people see other players wearing bad-!@# gear they themselves don't have, they envy them and want it for themselves.

LOL! No we don't.

It makes players work that much harder to replace that ugly piece of gear

LOL! No it doesn't.

The gear they're wearing is their direct reflection.

Possibly.

immersion

is subjective.

All of that said, transmog does not belong in Classic.

This is commonly known psychology in game design. I'm surprised you don't know that.

Turning off the ability to see something is not the same as making it look like a different item. It was not transmog.

I still support a toggle to turn off viewing others transmogs.

It's probably the best change ever put into the game and is one of the only things that wouldn't change how the community interacts with one another, the way a built in quest helper, or LFG system might. Simply adds a little fun and flavor to your character.

WPvP would suffer from it, not being able to tell what type of gear someone is wearing reliably would result in a much more dice roll style of engagement, imagine some warrior running around in T3 mogged to all greens, you open on the guy thinking he's an easy gank and he MSs you for your entire bar. The other issue is that it simply doesn't exist in the data set the devs are working with along with the fact that they seem dead set on trying to preserve said data set.
You want Transmog, don't play WoW Classic.
posting in a 7 month old troll thread
how many languages can we say no in?
it doesn't matter because it still wouldn't be saying no enough times.

No to transmog. Part of vanilla was a few things.

  1. There was overall a lot less gear in circulation
  2. High end gear was recognizeable, these days someone in grays could look as geared as Captain Mythic.
  3. It is not good for the leveling economy. And there will be a lot of people spending time doing that. Level 10s aren’t gonna have 2g let alone 35g for those wool bear woolies, but they could be a good buy for 18s and last them until level 20 even.
  4. Did I mention less gear in circulation? Heirlooms don’t even exist and most quests give whites. Or greens at best. Until like wpl.

Considering I can’t even begin to sell transmog gear on the AH on live, I call this argument BS.

That being said, transmog is not needed in Classic. All the Vanilla gear is already better-looking than TBC crap.

And yet I make thousands of gold a week doing it. Maybe stop trying to sell the clown pants?

“I can’t sell xmog gear so that means no one can”

That’s par for the course of arguments in this forum.

The only thing i want is current day graphics. And since people can turn them down it doesn’t affect people who are “no changes.” I don’t really want transmogs. It has to be exactly as it was in vanilla. And since graphics are an individual thing it doesnt change anything to do with gameplay or mechanics.
