Can we keep transmog in Vanilla?

I absolutely loved the feeling of wearing goofy clown armor while leveling up, it felt so natural and reinforced this feeling of being some wackjob adventurer slapping on whatever you find in random monster stomachs. I loved just trying to picture how it must look to civilians in Org/SW to see a raid walk by in immensely powerful, yet really silly outfits.

Mismatched clown loot is at the heart of RPGs, and while I adore the transmog system, I miss the silliness!

Neither should happen, IMO.

Yet the latter did happen in the past. I predate Cataclysm, and I got several items from Classic that are no longer obtainable, whose appearances remain available to me for transmog. I think it would be a shame not to let others get the same opportunity.

NO.

You got several items from an earlier expansion that are no longer available. You did not get several items from a different game to use for transmog in Legion, or retail WoW.

People should play classic because they want the experience, not because they want some pixels in retail.
Not defending transmogrification, but some of the individuals against transmogrification are probably gonna be those types of players who haunt Nesingwary's Expedition in Stranglethorn Vale.

Except the people who hate new models/transmogrification are literally playing WoW: Classic for "some pixels."
No....

All this would do is drive retail tourists to classic to get the tmog they cant get or dont want to spend thousands of gold on...then they will complain its not casual friendly, and too hard...and that its not fair they are forced to play it for these tmog pieces....

But WoW Classic ISN'T a different game. It's an earlier version of WoW.

Or if I am wrong, then what did Blizzard mean by "classic server option"? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcZyiYOzsSw)
I want t-mog but account wide t-mog or classic > retail transmog is the worst idea that's been posted on these forums.

Nowhere did Blizzard say that "classic server option" meant access to classic WoW servers with a retail subscription.

If Blizzard made WoW: Classic a separate and distinct game, it would require its own servers, which would also qualify as "classic servers" and a "classic server option".

All we can do is to wait and see how Blizzard chooses to handle classic and retail.

Personally, I want to see them as completely separate and distinct games, each with its own subscription fee. I do not want to see any interaction between the two games.

How so?

In the first place, WoW Classic never had transmog, so adding it wouldn't be true to the original experience.

In the second place, WoW already has account-wide transmog, including appearances from classic, so subtracting it wouldn't be true to the original experience either.

People that have a different opinion are not trolls.

No, Blizzard is not going to do it but people have the right to post why they'd like it. Maybe Blizzard will add it in a few years.

It's obvious that Blizzard will not add that, so why bother post about it? Secondly, we have no power to answer his question officially so again, why bother? This whole forum is pointless since no one is writing official posts.

Blizzard specifically said they’re looking for feedback on things like this.
Why would they ask for that? Let’s use our brains for a moment.

Why would you want transmog..
Did you even play back then? Because anyone who played in Vanilla/TBC knows how impacting it was to see the few people in Tier2/3 pieces..

Yes. Youll look garbage when your character IS garbage. Thats how it worked back then. When you went back to SW or IF or Org and saw all the raiders with their Tier2/3 pieces glowing and looking like nothing youve seen before it was great. It made you want to be that.

As much as I love Transmog I loved the authenticity of gear. I loved being able to quickly tell " Yes, that warrior has ashkandi, he's probably going to hurt alot. " It spoke for you without you ever having to say a word.

Do you know whats one of the most unrewarding feelings in WoW? When an enemy puts so much work into their transmog to look 'epic' but you can completely decimate them in PVP when they backpedal and keyboard turn around you.

Because every warrior will be able to attain Ashlandi and transmog it.
Where the fk is your critical thinking skills? did you eat too much paint chips as a kid?

A separation of retail and classic will happen.

So again, how am I going to transmog my warrior with an ashkandi If I didn’t get it in that character? What if I hate the way Ashkandi looks?

We’ve already said it needs to be personal transmog and not acct wide.
You’re obviously not keeping up with the discussion, so go sit in the corner and let the grown ups talk.
No changes

Vanilla didn't have transmog, but it did keep track of which weapons and armor you had Soulbound.

I have been able to transmog my swords to look like Linken's Sword of Mastery (which to this day has no lookalikes) even though I sold mine long before transmog became a thing.

I hope that the re-released Vanilla, too, keeps track of which weapons and armor you have soulbound and adds their appearances to your account's transmog options.

Technically incorrect. The game tracked the quests you had completed and the rewards you chose from those quests even after they were removed from the live version. It didn't track the items you picked up randomly, for those to work with transmog you had to still own them or go get them again.

It's probably the best change ever put into the game and is one of the only things that wouldn't change how the community interacts with one another, the way a built in quest helper, or LFG system might. Simply adds a little fun and flavor to your character.

Can i keep this Character?
Revisiting this topic... I was undecided before, but now firmly against transmog. I want Classic to be as close to Vanilla as possible, and the only changes I'd advocate for would to address major, serious problems with the game's playability.

Lack of transmog is not a problem. (Also, I'm one of those weirdos who actually likes random clown gear.)
For the love of Vanilla please kill this thread.
I would not be opposed to Blizzard selling some xmogs.

That's another way to implement it so it doesn't "ruin" the economy that is starting from zero. A good one too. Id hope they use gold though and not real cash.

Twink items don't get ridiculous prices on fresh realms. High sure but not unobtainable.
What's really funny about this whole argument is take the feet of the lynx for example. Those boots can last you into your 30's.
I don't see the difference between those twink items and greens that are sought after. So now there's a few more items that people want. Big deal.
On a fresh server it's going to take months before people have enough good too even bother buying gear. Unless you don't mind walking until level 50.
Those greens will either be vendored, disenchanted, or collect dust on the AH.
This isn't the same economy as mop was when tmog was implemented. This is fresh. Not 4 expansions worth of farming. Big difference.
There's more than one way to implement this so it has zero inflation. It can be turned into a gold sink.
xmog would change the vanilla economy, so no. there will be negative consequences because of Xmog.

Oh look those green boots that are good for leveling... but they look pretty so now they cost 100g and are out of my reach now.
Transmog is a great system and it adds a ton of replayability and rp value to the game. Does it belong in classic? Maybe, it depends on what they are going for, I see it as a graphical option more than anything.
