Can we get rid of Slice And Dice?

I made this post before but since the thread is reviving i want to post it again because i think it’s relevant:

I wish they would just GIVE people the option: either a talent for SnD as it is or a talent for a passive (essentially a choose 1 of 2 talent like they have now for skills). Those that like and can juggle the extra maintenance buff and like the extra damage from the skill level required GREAT they get their cake, and those that don’t like SnD and would rather just worry about spec specific stuff/skills GREAT they can have their cake too.

Assassination already does that.

You don’t want to juggle SnD, you take Cut to the Chase.
You like to feel special, don’t take Cut to the Chase. As a bonus you get to put that point somewhere else.

It’s the exact same SnD either way.

I will have my cake now, thank you very much.

Would love to see S ‘n’ D go, has no place in the game with the new talent trees, Outlaw is especially burdened by this snooze fest spell.

it does that in one sense in that you put it up and then it gets refreshed. fair middle ground, but we should be able to agree it’s not completely passive as you still need to put it up to begin with but at least it is a step in the direction for those that don’t want to have to worry about it as a maintenance buff: which is really what some are talking about and i imagine feel like it is, just a maintenance buff, an extra button.

The other 2 specs far less so in being able to keep it up by comparison. Outlaw as i recall has a chance* to proc it i think through a roll the bones buff that then gives slice and dice but is unreliable, and sub spec gives you 10sec of it if you already have it up once when you go into that stealth/shadowdance mode but even that does not keep it up 100%.

So back to the heart/crux of it: Just give people the option of taking a talent that gives a straight attack speed buff

I don’t disagree with you. However, I still stand on my position that SnD should be passive. Especially for Assassination where it’s a “press once and done” ability.

I cant tell you how much i hate slice and dice.

Its my most forgotten keybind, and it makes the whole kit feel needlessly complicated.

I swear every spec’s kit would be just great without it.

The worst part is that its used once a fight (as if thats somehow an improvement, taking up an entire keybind) but not on certain burst windows.

I hate slice and dice.

During Legion and BfA we had Rogue without Slice and Dice and it was the most oversimplified, terrible state the class has ever been in, for the lack of SnD among other reasons.

Just practice on a dummy until you get better at being mindful of SnD. It’s an ability that rewards forethought in the heat of combat.

Im not doing anything you say. Its a stupid ability, my brain power should be focused on the plethora of other options i have to spend my combo points.

We could easily get rid of it and still have a complex spec.

How much do you deadlift?

No it’s not. There is no reward for using SnD. My target dies whether I use it or not. I don’t get any extra loot for using SnD.

Apologies if this was already indicated, but approximately how much extra dps (% wise) happens for assassination rogues on a target dummy when using SnD vs not using it?

That may inform how we think about it.

bake SnD into roll da bones. grand melee increases duration.

Yeah for Assa it should just be passive (If you take CttC talent maybe?) Or CttC can just be “Using Envenom grants 3 seconds of Slice and Dice per combo point” instead of refreshing it.

As it stands, it’s just an annoyance button to press.

It’s significant enough that you want 100% up time on it. I would guess between 2% - 4%.

what’s wrong with pressing SND instead of envenom/dispatch/evicerate once every 30 seconds.

Like what? Eviscerate and Rupture? Or pirate Eviscerate and pirate Rupture? Or maybe green Eviscerate? Throw in a Kidney Shot every now and then?

I like SnD because I see it for what it is: a combo point investment that yields more combo points, higher energy regen and healing (with Recuperator) over the course of its duration. You can keep complaining about it or you can learn to work with it for the element of setup and payoff that it brings to the rotation.

Not really, at least not in pve. SnD helps fulfill Rogue’s setup and execution style gameplay loop

Bro what lol

Sure, your target may die without it, but by omitting it from your rotation you’d be missing out on a buff that increases the generation of both your resources, plus periodic healing if you talent into it.

SnD was always great.

It’s a button you press once at the start of a fight with 1 combo point and then forget about for as long as Envenom is rolling.

I don’t talent into Cut to the Chase precisely because I enjoy weaving SnD into my rotation.

Ok? One person’s bizarre preference isn’t a good enough reason for everyone else to have to suffer clunky and unnecessary gameplay.

If you don’t like it, then as you say, talent into Cut to the Chase and be done with it.
