Can we get more LGBT couples in game?

I call it the Castiel effect. Seriously. This was one of the best damn scenes from Supernatural.

Nope. No grey areas. No understanding. No acceptance. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sexuality shouldn’t be in video games. Remove it. All of it.

points at Wrathion Also, you know IVF, rape, artificial insemination. It’s a bit naive to say the only possible procreation comes from a straight relationship, especially in a fantasy/technology mashup universe.

I had thought it amusing before when threads were being transferred from GD to here. But now I’m annoyed because 1000 posts is too much for me to catch up with.

Yeah, it burns, because a paladin must lie to frame his own race in a better light

You can! Just don’t talk about ramonatic love. Ever. Have it be taboo. Make everyone act sexually and romantically ace.

Those two NPCs that have funny banter and good chemistry and seem to get along really well? Just friends. Always, every single time.

No romantic threads, no one mentioning their spouse. Anyone caught doing the /flirt is instantly banned.

It is quite the ride of a thread, but I’ll summarize.

LGBTQ people like characters like FairShaw and want more.

Homophobes don’t like that and have any number of homophobic reasons why.

LGBTQ people troll them.

What I want to know is, why do we only see this in humans and elves? To a lesser extent there’s a Troll lesbian couple. That’s still playing it ‘safe’ though. Where’s the gay orc couples? Gay dwarves? No one wants the ‘ugly’ gays, not ‘palatable’; marketable.

On the topic of making the game more inclusive, I think a good next step to take is to update some voice lines, specifically flirts and some jokes, to not assume my character is straight. Let me decide who my character is attracted to, Blizzard.

For example, there is the “I like my women dumpy and droopy with halitosis” voice line. First, troll women haven’t been dumpy and droopy since the Alpha, and second, if I want to roleplay a gay troll character, I can’t use /silly without chancing him saying something that breaks that.

An option to take certain jokes and flirts out of the rotation would be a satisfactory solution for me, but even better would be to update some character voices altogether. We have had visual updates, but some of the voices are relics from 2004. I say record new voices and let players choose between the old and the new. It would be nice to play a blood elf male with voice lines that weren’t mostly “How gay are we?” jokes. Low key, I hate the playable blood elf male voice in general and envy all the NPC’s who sound so much better.

I’ve always headcanoned that the mortar team is a gay couple. They seem pretty close and I feel like it’d be sweet.

Tess Greymane is a worgen now and she’s dating Llian Voss.

All for it as long as they have better inspiration than moronic fan ships.

Hey Flynn and Shaw were awesome! Not to mention well written in comparison to many relationships in WoW(let’s not forget Kalec once dated the Sunwell of all things).

Flynn and Shaw are a fun pair. That dungeon was a perfect setup.

I’ll support this once they take the Thrall’s Wedding quest out of the game, and rework the Malfurion and Tyrande stuff to be about saving him because he’s an important leader not because of their love. And also maybe cool it with the bearded human men getting with magically young elven women.

After all, its Warcraft not Lovecraft!

(Sorry if this sounds sarcastic, I seriously do want less romance overall because blizzard aren’t great at writing it. But if they insist on putting het romance in then I can’t begrudge LGBT folks for wanting in on that action)

I honestly thought the Shaw and Flynn romance subplot in SR was great, honestly. I think Roux wrote Shaw falling in love very well. Starting to notice the scent of someone, picturing them with you in your ideal happy ending dream life, remembering the texture of their clothes from when you held them - that sort of thing.

And personally as a straight man I’ve really been lost by texts before when a woman writes a gay male love story. Because it’s usually me raising an eyebrow going

“Of all the loves I’ve had I don’t think I’d start describing a single one with like that, I might mention their eyes if we’re talking anatomy but go ahead I guess”

Whereas that felt believable and heart warming. To the point I was really rooting for them.

Doubly so with Lor’Themar and Thalyrssa. Though I did go

“Lor’Themar you’re like 3x older than the United States of America how are you still nervous around girls?”

Yeah there are some good writers making Warcraft books and extraneous material but I thought this thread was mostly about ingame couples?

They were first made a couple in Shadow’s Rising. Also, let’s be real here, WoWs not going to have a gay couple in game that can’t be easily edited out for regions still hostile to the LGBT crowd.

I’d be delighted if they proved me wrong but, doubt it.

Why does a troll thread get necroed?

I am surprised.

Worse, why is it being necroed IN Story Forums when the thread was obviously a GD created abomination?
