…and don’t mention Flynn. I won’t say he doesn’t count, but you have to play the game for such a long time before you even meet him as a character let alone find anything about him (or if I did meet him earlier his role was so insignificant I don’t even remember) Even then any reference to his orientation is a “blink and you’ll miss it” thing. I certainly missed it and only found out about it from reading this thread.
I rarely visit the forums these days. But the last like 4 times I have been here there is some conversation similar to this. What is going on? Are trolls trying to get people banned or something? Out of all the concerns about a video game adding representation in a fantasy world for 3%-6% of our world is a waste of time to discuss.
FYI. The recent book sucked. As soon as I got to that part mention I literally tossed in the trash. I then went on every book review platform gave it a horrible review. And I made sure it was properly tagged so others could avoid it. Thankfully Goodreads lets you tag things so you can avoid the inclusion of certain subjects.
I’d like to see more couples in general (both straight and gay/bi/etc.) so long as it’s well written and not by the people who wrote tyrande x malfurian.
I’m gay, and I really dislike this kind of stuff. I don’t keep tally of what type of couples and other boxes I see get checked. If they can make something organic and not feel like it’s because they need to “up their representation,” that’s fine. I don’t care. Anything that happens should be logical, well written, and not feel like a spectacle – no matter who or what it is. I can be just as into a genuine straight couple as anything, just as it’s equally cringey to see a forced straight couple.
In general, though, I don’t like to wear my sexuality on my sleeve. It’s not my obsession or my identity, it’s just me. When I was a teenager people would try to pull me every which way to flaunt it or celebrate and this and that, but it’s too much. It’s not being ashamed, or scared, or self-loathing. It’s not what identifies you or makes all of your being, nor is it anything special. Everyone has a sexuality of some kind, that is normal; what makes someone exceptional is how they carry themselves with others and their deeds, not what boxes they filled.
