Okay so I did that, and the only thing that came up was a clearly biased right-wing website covered in anti-left-wing articles saying that Gladd made a statement asking for 25% representation, and then devolved into some weird rant.
25% is a lot more than necessary, but it would never actually hurt anyone if it happened.
Also, they have no power to enforce any of this. They can make statements and hufflepuff all they want, but they aren’t able to actually force this to this happen.
So yeah, 25% is a lot - but this “discrn” website also has clear bias and I don’t think anyone’s even heard of it.
Is there something else, where someone is actually being bullied here? You literally called it “nonstop bullying from the lgbt groups” And your only source is “google gladd 25%” and it leads to some random unheard website talking about how Gladd made a statement. Like where’s the bullying?
And just because Gladd (which most gay people really truly actually do not have any connection to) wants something a bit farfetched, we shouldn’t let lgbt people have any representation? I just don’t see why.
LGBT people have been targeted by anti-lgbt lobbyist for decades, they literally lobby to take our rights away. Many times they’re successful, but only in the last 12 years or so have LGBT even been able to make a bit of progress. We were finally able to get the right to marry, and every single day there are groups of people actively working to take that particular right away, and more.
But you’re upset that GLADD made a statement asking for representation and called it bullying?
Sorry but that just feel like hate.

Actually my understanding is that the game behind the Great Firewall of China is already heavily edited to the censor’s taste. The examples I happen to know about are fairly heavy-handed: the undead are fully fleshed without bones showing, and instead of skeletons littering certain areas there are neatly organised gravesites. If Blizzard is going to go so far as to develop significant visual differences, it wouldn’t be a problem at all to change the text in some of the storylines (and I’m sure they already do, but I don’t happen to know of any examples). So yeah, it’s not the PRC’s fault for what we do and don’t have here.
I’m not sure, it’s exactly racist though I’m just skimming. But from my understanding Berseker is nagging on the CCP. Which should and is usually pertaining to the government and not the Asian people of china. Normal peeps in china have a lot of their human rights violated. People are going to attack the CCP for that. Just know, when people talk about China violating things like human rights in some way or another. It usually pertains to the government which actively tries to harm its people. But perhaps I misunderstood since I simply skimmed through the discussion between you and him.

It is very necessary for many reasons, but that Harry Potter example you used is actually one of them:
There’s only 2 gay characters in the Harry Potter cast, Dumbledore and Grindelwald. JK Rowling only twitted about this and never made it part of either the books or the movies. Essentially, she capitalized on seeming ‘woke’ without doing any of the actual legwork.
Years later, she’s been greatly criticized for her tokenism, and her outward transphobia (among other things). Despite the story being excellent, it is now tainted by the author’s issues.
If you don’t make the LGBT characters part of the actual story, then it’s not real representation. Sooner or later, people will notice.
But anyway, the real reason representation is good is for validation. It can change a person’s life just knowing there are more people like them in the planet. That’s why the whole “you are not alone” message is so powerful and so used in therapy.
