3 of the 4 I needed showed up in the last 18 hours so that’s something!
This was my experience as well, spot on. I found it best to prioritize other achievements while waiting for storms in between; just with a simple WoWhead check.
All the folks telling people it’s supposed to take time are just dismissive clowns.
I play a lot. I’ve played every day since the beginning of the expansion and still don’t have specific storms from some zones. It’s been the same issue since they were introduced, where the majority of storms spawn in the Azure Span.
Heck, I got most of the Azure Span storm achievements in late '22 or early '23. It’s now '24 and still haven’t seen a firestorm in Thaldraszus while I was online. I also use an achievement tracker to let me know when they’re up.
Planning only goes so far when you consider work, family and sleep. I’m 78/200 for Snowstorms in The Waking Shores, because the one time I saw it up was right after I got home and only had ten minutes to kill as many mobs as possible.
I finally finished Thunderstorms of Thaldraszus today, which almost didn’t happen. For some reason, only 1 in 10 mobs was ‘empowered’ to count for the achievement. I’m assuming this is a bug, because most storms empower most of the mobs in the area.
So yeah. Not asking for free achievements, but seeing 3/4 of the storms spawn in Azure Span is just annoying.
This achievement would be a lot better if it was just “Kill 1000 elementally infused idiots” in each of the zones rather than specifically “Kill 200 fire and 200 thunder and 200 snow and 200 sand”
Or even “Kill 200 elementally fire infused idiots in any primal storm” for each element type. That way we wouldn’t care that Azure Span gets invaded more often than your personal space at a walmart.
Well Storm Chaser is now the sole thing keeping me from finishing world awoken glad to get home and work on it but whats this? Azure Span again? no way
I haven’t seen fire up in the plains since the meta’s launched, 9 days now?
Thunder in Ohn’ahren tonight at 11 PM EDT. Landed at :03 and was done with 200 kills at 13 after. Just tab targeting all the giant cow creatures which don’t have tag limitations.
Much achieve. So prestige.
To anyone saying the storm chaser achievements are an indication of any actual kind of achievement is delusional. This is a waste of time and completing them before there were rewards attached was a waste of your time and this shouldn’t be included in the overall meta.
Even after I get the last one (Fire in Ohn’ahren plains), I will still stand by that they should remove this.
And now we finally get Ohn’ahran Plains storms and it’s air back-to-back. Are you kidding me.
Trying to get these storms has wrecked my sleep, checking every 3 hours for a fire storm in the plains. When the devs don’t play the game, you get crap designs like this.
go back to two storms!!! 4 STORMS UP IN ALL ZONES!! storms up always in all zones rotating element every 2 hours
also i didnt finish this achievement because of issues with the rotation and zones…it started affecting my sleep trying to get the storm i needed…so i was hoping the achievement would be ironed out by end of patch…yet here i am typing about the same issues
Oh, so when there’s clear proof an event is all kinds of messed up, and we’ve got someone on the council telling folks to ruin their sleep just to refresh WoWhead every three hours… and yet, they won’t budge on letting the event go back to how it was when first released or even tweak the code to sort it out? That’s classic gatekeeping. Seriously, they shouldn’t be speaking on behalf of the community.
Am I wrong in thinking that bringing back the second storm would help?
Why is this such a sticking point that they don’t just revert the change?
I agree with a lot of the pushback your takes are getting here. You probably need to rethink your perspective a little.
The problem you’re running into is conflating ideas of challenge and virtual impossibility. If the situation since the announcement of the meta is that it’s even remotely possible to miss out on the achievement for lack of opportunity (ie. the appropriate combination needed to complete the achievement simply doesn’t arrive in time), then the design and/or timing of the achievement is just poor, indefensibly. Arguing in favor of something like this on the back of some point about players needing to pay their dues or whatever would be like defending the implementation of some new hypothetical pvp achievement on the last day of the season that requires players to climb to 2.4k arena rating within a 24 hour period. Is the “access” technically there to complete the achievement? Uh, su…uu…u…uuuure…? Do a bunch of players already incidentally have 2.4k from earlier in the season? Yes, obviously. Does any of that mean that it’s a fair, reasonable, or even well-considered achievement? Definitely not.
Access does not always translate to opportunity. They should either have announced the meta much earlier or change the instance rate of storms now. The latter, of course, being the far more accessible option.
Can I ask why everyone seems so frantic about this?
I’m sure the devs’ perspective is “this is not a time-limited achievement, they can take years to finish it if that’s what it takes.”
I think it’s mostly FOMO. ( I mean no dis-respect to anyone here). I’m down to just needing fire in Thaldraszus and setting alarms for next spawns. I know I likely have a long time to complete the meta but I self admittedly suffer from that NEED TO HAVE IT NOW syndrome.
Eh, I was just hoping to get it done before the PoE league today, since I know that will steal my attention for the next few weeks.
Adding any kind of set rotation would help, even if it’s a lengthy one. Either do that or allow more storms to be up at one time to even out the RNG. Keep the achievement in, but make the acquisition less needlessly RNG.
its Spam again
We’re back to a whole hecking day of Azure Span. Dunno what the 2 AM PST storm was, 8 AM was Snowstorm in Thaldraszus so great but man…ugh.
Does anyone need any storms in Azure Span for their meta by now, lol.
