We’re right here. We didn’t go no where.
Ummm…
We’re right here. We didn’t go no where.
You mean this:
OP wants to play Silver Covenant aligned Blood Elves.
Happy Sunday everyone!
Yeah, it’s like I said in a previous thread: everything high elves could potentially do, an existing playable race already does better, so it might have legitimately been easier to invent void elves than to find a way to make the former more interesting because a Void-infused race hadn’t been covered yet. Void and blood elves even took their blue eyes, which helfers spent years trying to gatekeep blood elves from getting because it was the most obvious physical feature separating the two.
I think it’s disingenuous to say that there isn’t a single soul out there who saw Alleria’s form after she absorbed L’ura and thought “I want to play as that”, and then they sort of got their wish in BfA.
I see way too many people refer to races they don’t like as mistakes that need to be corrected, which I think is mostly tied to race discussion becoming far more toxic since allied races came along.
in the alliance since WCII,
then because horde was dying blizzard decided to give “pretty” elf race to horde to save them from dying because nobody ever wanted to play horde.
They are called blood elves, not high elves. High elves are still in the alliance.
This is spam, right?
Nah, it just shows their true colors on how they feel about VE’s, at least these guys are honest unlike other “VE fans” are.
VE’s have a High Elf customization option. There you go. There’s your High Elves. It’s not changing. Sorry not sorry.
To be fair, Void Elves are 110% a mistake, and NOT because we got them instead of High Elves, and yes: they need to be fixed.
The race had no seeding before being added to the game. Alleria’s personal journey to becoming what anyone with two brain cells would’ve concluded to be a new class, is not foreshadowing for an entire race. We had existing races twisted by the void. We had Pale Orcs, we had Krokuul (with their own reputation in Argus it just so happens), we had Ethereals, etc…
The Void Elves were so poorly implemented that to this day they are the ONLY PLAYABLE RACE that doesn’t even have a reputation to grind associated with them.
Just what a Void Elf even is, is so poorly defined there is no clear consensus on that point. People argue back and forth that any elf whom practices the Void is technically a, ‘Void Elf,’ because Alleria doesn’t look like Umbric and the others and is considered the first, ‘Void Elf.’ Some people argue its only the playable race that are Void Elves, and others argue only those with the void customizations are really Void Elves.
Their unlocking scenario was an utter mess lorewise. Blizzard did not even try. It’s like they had someone build a list of bad evil naughty Blood/High Elves, stuck them to a dart board, and tossed darts until one of the post-it notes was hit. So, apparently Dar’khan Drathir, the man known for his interest in the Scourge’s power, in necromancy, was actually studying the Void all along, because Blizzard needed a traitor associated with the study to give the Void Elves a dumb backstory.
The Telogrus Rift is a slapdash mess of Legion assets thrown together so haphazardly that most of it is invisible walled off because you’ll fall through the ground. Void Elf heritage armor doesn’t look remotely elven at all: it looks like something they ripped off the corpse of a Dreadlord and dipped into void pools.
Blizzard didn’t even use them to pursue any void storylines in BFA. The Void Elves were brought out to fight the Horde, but whenever something void related cropped up, good luck finding any.
This race was a mistake on just about every single level, and we’re well past the point this should have been addressed and fixed. Worse, there’s a disturbingly high chance they’ll be stealing Midnight to get all the development and lore building they should have already had before being made playable to begin with. Midnight should be the Blood Elves’ story, but more likely than not it’s going to be all about the Void Elves, and I worry the only thing the Blood Elves will do is constantly mope and cry that they were so wrong as to exile this group that are now the ONLY ONES whom can save them.
Void Elves were a monumental mistake on just about every fundamental level a race can be a mistake.
They need to be fixed.
I dont understand your stance.
You say void elves have no lore and that this needs to be fixed. Then you say you think this will happen in midnight and youre unhappy that youre getting what you just asked for.
Indeed. The mistake was, that they had no lore, and were added to the game, and left to exist loreless for so long.
I suspect it will come at the cost of another race’s development. Void Elves SHOULD have been developed and fleshed out long BEFORE being added as a race. They SHOULD have been developed and fleshed out in the expansion of their introduction, or at the very latest, BFA. Now, if they get development, it will be at the cost of the Blood Elves whom haven’t had much development other than breadcrumbs since BC.
I dont see how void elves getting a story is any more at the expense of blood elves than any race getting the spotlight other than blood elves.
If the expansion is set in quelthalas like it is meant to, im sure both blood and void will be active players anyhow.
I’ve no faith in Blizzard’s capacity to write well.
-Gestures at the last handful of expansions-
I suspect Midnight is going to be one massive guilt trip where the Blood Elves are made out to look like absolute morons for exiling the Void Elves. If that’s the story Blood Elves are getting in Midnight, then yeah, the Void Elves will get the spotlight at the detriment of the Blood Elves.
Personally i dont think that will even really get mentioned.
I think the sunwell will get corrupted by the void, perhaps as prepatch for the expansion, and the whole disagreement will be shrugged off as being redundant now as its already happened.
Hope youre not including me in that!
They already exist. You can roll horde today or play the cheap copy with void elves, both have access to dark rangers, even nelfs have this. Faction barriers are basically gone. You have what you want, you’ve had it for 19 years basically.
We don’t need another elf race. we already have high elves.
Hm but have you considered my 15 years of headcanon proving beyond all doubt that blood elves are incapable of even having hunters and the elves of highvale clearly have tattoos they’ve never had in-game
Have you not noticed how there isn’t a single ranger in Eversong
We’re Blood Elves, the Sin’dorei. We have been changed by our experiences and honour our fallen. We will thrive
High Elves are traitors who’d rather go and romance humans than honour their history. Being called a High Elf is an insult to any proper Sin’dorei
High elves are dying out, blood elves are actually saving the species.
