It’s in the OP. By post 347, it’s generally expected that people know what the OP is or that they ask clarifying questions to the OP themselves if they’re having trouble understanding.
I know you want to devolve the conversation into a semantics argument, but it’s not gonna happen.
Just like its my opinion that the fully anon posting OP wants will only make everything worse and has no beneficial effects.
The system we have now, its incredibly easy to be anonymous.
The fact this is never disputed makes me giggle.
I am trying to have an actual discussion.
The system we have does not make anyone unsafe if you use the tools you have available. The system suggested by OP has no redeeming value, because it does not make you any safer. It only has negative effects.
I get that you dont want to actually talk about this. Like the OP and everyone else that supports the OP.
But doesnt that get boring? Jumping into a conversation to continuously derail it?
I agree with this. I believe this - what you have written here, at face value - is an agreeable position to take.
Outside of anonymity and forum posting mechanics, what topics would you like to discuss? I believe I remember reading posts of yours back in the day about high elves, which I thought were fine. That, to me, is a perfectly valid opinion to have.
Was there confrontation during those threads that led to these newer threads about anonymity? I can see why that could be the catalyst.
I would love to discuss this topic with you. Would you like to explain what benefits fully anon posting has over what we have now? How the current system is lacking?
If you say so. It might also deter people from hopping onto alts, pretending to be different people, liking their own posts, bypassing people’s ignores…the list is endless.
Thanks for your opinion. It’s duly noted.
This is another great example of why anonymous posting would be a horrible idea.
What’s the rest of the context? Many people do believe in the death penalty. Who cares if they believe in the death penalty? I also do for many crimes.
Right there. We were discussing specific, horrible, proven things the OP has said, which you chose to handwave as “an opinion”. If that’s not what you meant, you should have been much more clear, because that was the subject at hand.
The whole point of having a discussion is exchanging opinions, ideas and asking questions. There is no discussion if you just share your opinion and walk away.
Thank you for proving that you, too, are just trolling. Have a great day
No, the subject is about the forums and it’s privacy. Not about whatever the OP was saying 30 years ago. If you guys stopped derailing the thread ALL the time, we wouldn’t have confusions now would we?
The OP and anyone supporting fully anon posting will not state why they feel unsafe and what benefit fully anon posting brings over what we have now.
Because they will not after so much discussion, the implication is that they are using this to cover up their actual reasoning for wanting fully anon posting. And judging by their post history, it now makes sense.
The OP and others supporting it dont actually discuss this topic. That is the issue.
I know this wasn’t aimed at me, but the way I’ve always understood one main argument of BTag is that it allows folks to know the account they’re engaging in discussion with, and not just the character. The latter can be created many times over and having multiple characters be able to both flag or like a post can influence what other’s not directly engaged in the topic may think.
If it was Btag-based, each individual would only have 1 flag and 1 like. That ability to ‘review bomb’ a post can be more confidence-shaking (or boosting) when you see the number of likes a certain post has. Btags would prevent this ability to manipulate support by having “1 account, 1 like/report” limit.
