Can i disable the 'potentially offensive message' nonsense?

Do you actually think the blocked post wasn’t against the CoC? A better picture is started to be painted here.

I understand that, but for quite a while now, all we’ve been seeing is stuff get deleted and rarely does anyone get sanctioned. But it’ll be up to the mod.

Like I said, just be mindful of the CoC.

i was making a point. you will NEVER be able to force people to be ‘non offensive’ no matter how many words are censored. and regardless of that, no matter what you say someone, somewhere, will be offended.

it is a stupid idea to protect people from being offended, and setting out with an impossible task will only lead to increasingly extreme measures as you continue to fail.

You broke the forum rules blatantly. Using “nice words” (not that using a diseased plant to assault someone is nice words) is not the problem here.

The issue seems to be you’re in such a blind rage over your actions you are oblivious to the rule not being just swears.

No one is trying to block someone being offended. They are making it so they are warned if someone sends them something that breaks the ToS and social contract that they had to sign to play. This isnt the government black bagging you, its a pop up warning the game told you was part of their rules.

And no, you cannot force them. There will however be consequences for their actions.

This is a private space. If you behaved the way you do in my home you’d be kicked out of there too.

Ya and the 5 people you were arguing with were just waiting for you to type anything remotely offensive to flag it. They do this all day. You fell for it

No backhanded insult and please stop trying to reframe being offensive as fighting censorship. We know what is offensive when we type it we are adults as people love to point to. Society always had social norms this is nothing new, it is in fact a building block of society. Being offensive is not expression, it is being harmful and society has always limited what is harmful.

If you had any pride you would learn how to express yourself and communicate meaningfully without have to be offensive. You can get your point across with out it and if you are unable to not be offensive then you need to look at yourself and wonder why that is the case. Not being able to say certain words does not remove your ability to express yourself and communicate meaningfully. It just means you need to expand your vocabulary.

I say all of this as someone who does not mind being offensive because I believe that is all some people understand (yes, yes wrong I know). But I also know the time and place for that and if it prohibited then I have to use my big girl words instead.

If all it takes for someone to blatantly break the rules is for someone to tell them they’re wrong, they are the reason the rules exist.

I cuss like a sailor in real life and in private spaces.

But I don’t do that in public because I know how to compose myself in public spaces.

It’s shocking to me how many people on this forum don’t seem to have that skill.

Ever worked retail? These people curse at any inconvenience, imagine trying to maintain a place and being hailed with profanity just cause a company utility has to be closed for cleaning.

His initial point was valid. Like is the filter picking up suck when his friend mistyped sick as suick. They yall baited him to push the envelope and he did. It’s basically a sting operation. Now you all feel good about keeping the forums clean when you directly impacted the events.

this post was made because a friend pm’d me a typo and the message was hidden. i rarely set out to offend anyone, and on the rare occasion i do it is part of a larger point. in this case, that it is stupid to censor words. especially when someone has already specifically stated in two separate places that had to be sought out in the options that they do not want to be protected from words.

as an aside, profanity is just a gamer accent.

The filter does not distinguish between friends and a post dungeon/pvp griefer. Thier original point is not valid. That is the system in place and its not for them. They can ignore it if it such a problem for them.

I did not force the person to break the rules. I told them my opinion on their actions, which they promptly justified.

Seems to me they were angry and offended by what someone said.

So were slurs in recent memory. The world grows up, perhaps its time to be introspective.

What rules?

yes, all the meltdowns all over public media in light of the last election truly shows how ‘grown up’ we have become.

I think you completely misunderstood the reason for the whisper censor and misconstrued the wording of it.

What does that have anything to do with the conversation at hand?

Unless those meltdowns were people swearing or telling people to be assaulted with diseased plants on a private platform with rules against it, I don’t see the relevance.
