Can i disable the 'potentially offensive message' nonsense?

i dont need to be protected from ‘naughty’ words. especially when half the time its a typo, and the other half is a friend being expressive.

Search for language filter in settings

What’s funny is this filter is kind of pointless for anyone who has social anxiety / is sensitive to criticism.

Because when I see a message is blocked, or the word is censored, my brain immediately thinks it’s the worst possible thing. Also, I’m nosey and want to see exactly what they said. :joy:

So yeah, I always turn mine off. The only time I ever actually used that filter was when my niece would sit with me and could read chat. Keeping young children from learning bad words is kind of the only use.

ye, its disabled. still getting messages hidden with the ‘potentially offensive’ stupidity.

Oh I thought you meant just regular curse words.

I think any word or wording that can be interpreted as a slur or derogatory goes into that filter, and I don’t think that can be disabled.

had a friend typo sick as siuck or suick, and it was flagged.

Yeah… I don’t really get the point of it myself either. My mind turns conspiratorial and assumes its them trying to move the needle on speech by pointing out " hey you can report this"

well. we moved from ‘i dont agree with what you say, but will defend your right to say it with my life’ to ‘COMPLY OR DIE’.

yay progress.

Is this a feature on the forums or in game? If its the latter I just completely close chat altogether every time i enter the game lol.

in game. to see it in action just have a friend pm suick or siuck. cause, you know, typos are so offensive.

ooooor

you could moderate your own speech like a grown adult.

I guess the solution is to just not talk in game anymore.

Get the Tongues addon, set it to Gilnean Code Speak, boom, nobody understands what you’re sayin except Aussies and British people…

And the Aussies won’t care because they’ll also all secretly be swearing every other word.

That sounds like an even worse solution…

Things like this are not really for the player but for the company. If they have to take action to the account they always point to their “failsafe” that notified the player of an issue before it happened. People always claim not to be a child but some how are unable to stop reasoning like one or use logic like an adult.

Yes you can.
But keep in mind that you can still get in trouble for using mature language, even though everybody has to opt in to see it. So don’t think of it as a “now I can type this stuff” mode.

nice backhanded insult there, chum. here is some ‘adult logic’ for you. censorship was a means of normalizing controlling how others speak. and we are so far down the slippery slope that stating simple facts is deemed offensive, and can therefore be censored. we are literally building a society that prohibits ‘adult logic’. and tolerating your expression being controlled by an ‘authority’ is exactly what has allowed it to get to this point.

if you had any pride you would be as angry as i am at this affront to our ability to communicate meaningfully.

It’s on by default. I turned it off. If my dumbass could find it in settings I’m sure you can. Don’t be one who turns it off then reports bad words they intentionally chose to see
