I mean even if they were a hall monitor, if people are arguing they can smoke in the halls then what should a hall monitor do, watch through a window?
And they were answered. And then just kept going.

The hall monitor is fine doing what they want. They just shouldn’t expect people to go
“Why thank you, Hall monitor! We didn’t know that! Our discussion is now ended cause you were so helpful!”
The response will be more like:
“That’s great. Now buzz off you’re not helping.”

He’s not my opposition. We’re discussing the role of moderators and his thoughts are as valid as anyone else here. We’re not all here with the same agenda.
In the context of the topic, Mirasol is the opposition.
I must have missed the part that warranted flagging. I’ve seen some frustration in this thread, but nothing that crossed the line to become offensive.

Reasonable people would accept the explanation, not continue to advocate against rational conclusions. Telling someone to buzz off because you don’t like the answer doesn’t make you right, or even provide grounds for a rational discussion.

Where Mirasol screwed up was going beyond their support role and getting into an argument. That’s where I come in and called them out for what is not reading the room.

If you had your way it would not just be your opinions that would be pooped on but you as person. Even your right to exist in this world would be brought into question. What you are advocating for is for the gates to be removed and there are things that come with that you may not intend.
There is no point to this thread outside of relentless griping about well established rules of behavior.

Hmmm… On the one hand, for mental health, I agree we can only control our responses to stimulai, not the actions of others (including moderators lol). On the other hand, people who spew toxicity online remind me of litterbugs. Do people have a right to litter in my favorite campground and say “if you don’t like it that’s your problem”? Do the campground managers not have a right to set rules for their space? They have an experience they want to offer guests, and the litterbugs are spoiling it. So maybe they have a sign-in where guests have to promise they won’t litter.
