True, I was arguing that as public sensibilities have changed the way it has been enforced has changed.
I didn’t mean the words themselves were different. My argument is spirit over letter of the law. Sort of like how the real speed limit in most areas is 10 over the posted one.
That is why these forum posts back then exist. Because people came to the forums upset that they got reported, and actioned. Tried to pretend like the profanity filter ALLOWED them to break the rules. Which was not true then either. This is 2006 and 2007. Already considered a “dead horse”. Reporting is a lot easier now than it was then, and so enforcement is a lot easier, but the rules did not change in substance.
Not to be an armchair psychologist, but part of narcissism as a personality disorder is the need for approval from those around them and the need for positive attention from those around them in their selfish views.
For this reason narcissists, at least those for whom Narcissistic personality disorder comprises a large portion of their personality, tend to be VERY good at charming people with charisma and hiding their flaws. This is more histrionics than narcissism…
Less people were likely to report you back then because people had thicker skin and more offensive jokes and banter were mainstream, ah the good old days. It could be against the rules but if no one tells on you then blizz never knew.
Google “XKCD Free Speech” I can’t link that one for reasons.
That should help explain a bit about where you have rights, and where you don’t. You have the right to speak up against your govt and leaders - in public places - without fear of arrest. Nobody is taking that away from you.
You don’t have rights on private property. Private property owners also have rights - the right to set their own rules and limits. The right to remove people from that property if they don’t follow those rules. It could be dress code, it could be language rules, it could be behavior rules, it could be dietary rules. Whatever. That is the private property owner’s right.
You won’t go to jail for breaking rule son private property, but they don’t have to put up with you and can show you the door.
Word for word you claiming that the ToS has never been hard rules and always changing. After being told it hasn’t changed. Then you moved goalposts to “oh I meant moderation of it!”
I enjoyed reading the bants the game is still fun but BGs were way more funny when people would lose their cool more often now it barely happens still gives me a good laugh when it does.
