Can i disable the 'potentially offensive message' nonsense?

The masses getting on the internet ruined it in many ways sadly.

Knowing that ive made one day brighter as they roll their eyes and betray that little smirk makes it all worthwhile. Im glad my entertainment can entertain others.

It’s what he does to troll every time.

Oh I found the articles in question. And all they prove is some people got mad that they weren’t allowed to discriminate while advertising their guild and twisted it to make it out as if Blizz was anti LGBTQ+.

The reality is that you cannot discriminate in any way in guild or group advertising. It’s always been that way.

Keep complaining about mermaids and how the world isn’t going the way you want it to.

Ssear is correct that the ToS/EULA rule have not changed in any meaningful way.

Original User Manual from 2004 https://bnetcmsus-a.akamaihd.net/cms/template_resource/LO0VQ46XB1281555957773363.pdf - which has the EULA at the end. It points to the requirements for accepting Terms of Use with the website for it. I selected the first archived Wayback Machine TOU for WoW from 2004. I have copied out the relevant sections for you. Yes, it included hateful names and speech as well as profanity, masked profanity, spam, etc.

The main ones on language are here:

When engaging in Chat in World of Warcraft, or otherwise utilizing World of Warcraft, you may not:

  • (i) Transmit or post sexually explicit images or other content or language which in the sole discretion of Blizzard Entertainment is deemed to be offensive; nor shall you transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable content or language, nor may you use a misspelling or an alternative spelling to circumvent the content and language restrictions listed above;
  • (vii) Harass, threaten, stalk, embarrass or cause distress, unwanted attention or discomfort to another user of World of Warcraft or other person or entity; or

Turn off all chats.

My man busted out the manual.

Inb4 the “too bad this game was created by people that are too easily offended” crowd chirps in.

Not guild chat, though! :dracthyr_heart:

Yeah, I put that together when people freaked out about having to read the “Social Contract” as if the enforced rules were something new… New way of presenting them maybe, but not new rules.

I think by default you get 1.

But but but I was thoroughly destroyed?!

With Precision!

I love the implications that people weren’t banned from the forums or barrens chat in 2004, it’s comedy gold.
