This is APES or one of the best guilds in the world. This is their Gruul’s Lair kill video.

Notice the class of the MT here.
I’m not even going to bother with you. This is either on the test server or a private server. Not even going to bother.
Do you even understand how buggy the test server is?
Wait until release. Hell, wait 4 weeks after release. This is incredibly buggy right now.
Here is the ONLY kill of when they overtuned Magtheridon to have almost double HP.

Haha, funny response time.

Wait till release. There’s a ton of gear that isn’t/wasn’t available on the beta that should exist.
Wait until release kid.
I’m going to predict what you will say in the future.
TBC launch: There are still some bugs and people don’t have gear yet.
3 months into T4: This is T4 and Paladins shine as MTs in T5 and onwards.
T5 launch: They just need the set bonus.
3 months into T5: Warriors are just barely ahead and will lose their MT spot to Paladins in T6.
T6 launch: Warriors are only brought for gimmick bosses.
Phase 4: Bears are only broken in dodge and the SwP buff will put Paladins at the top.
SwP launch: The top guilds using bears are just sweaty about tps.
T5 launches with T4 you idiot.
YOU are the idiot. Blizzard is delaying T5 until phase 2. I wish they would release T5 at launch and skip S1 going straight to S2 in phase 1, but they decided otherwise.
Wow, you’re actually right. They are delaying T5.
This launch is hilarious.
It was back in the day but 2.0 back in 2007 was much much much harder than the watered down 2.4.3 version we’re getting.
Correct. The 2.4.3 is heavily nerfed compared to the initial release of T5.
I just got done watching one of the longer TBC beta breakdowns.
My god… This looks terrible.
Sad thing is Blizzard has admitted they have all the databases, files and art assets from 2.0 - 2.4.3 meaning if they wanted to they could have recreated a very faithful rendition of TBC unlike Vanilla where the only databases they had was from 1.12 and everything from 1.1 - 1.11 was lost.
But Blizzard went the cheap and easy way. Also a lot of people don’t realise that Blizzard was limited to 1.12 for vanilla classic so they just expected them to do TBC Classic using 2.4.3
Back in 2.0x doing tier 5 content was very difficult so few people saw it. Now with the watered down version if they had SSC and The Eye available at launch we’d be tier 5 geared in a matter of weeks.
I’m not sure what the problem is right now exactly.
But, something really wrong is going on behind the scenes I think.
I’m more concerned about the overall quality of TBC from here on out than just a time frame for releasing content.
I can’t really speak on paladins because I don’t really know much about them.
Between bears and warriors I’ll agree that warriors have more survivability. What I’m wagering on is that it won’t matter most of the expansion. After all, we saw how classic went down. And before anyone starts telling me how much harder TBC is and wants to school me and all that…I tanked into SWP back in OG TBC, and I’ve had my share of pserver experience in TBC also. I know the content and I know what to expect.
Also don’t need to tell me how crushing blows, or shield block, or any of that other stuff works. I’m a TC geek and I know how it all works very well, and I had years of experience tanking as a warrior.
So with all that out of the way…I think guilds will likely use warriors for progression or if they’re having a hard time. But once the speed clears inevitably come, it’s going to be pally druid time.
As an example. Here we have a fully blinged out T4 raid geared warrior with blacksmithing weapon and engineering trinkets:
http s://seventyupgrades.com/set/iR8f76diMwTgnTLr3Gyj4z
Look at that boy. So thick, so chunky, so purped out. What a chad.
Now, let’s compare him to a new feral druid who doesn’t even have raid or badge gear:
http s://seventyupgrades.com/set/2u7i3qTnaBHdZggjqyzyg1
Disgusting. Wearing craftables, ghetto gems, no professions, this scrub is straight out of shadowmoon valley.
Now let’s compare them:
The warrior has: 1179 more HP, 23 block w/ 310 SBV, and 17 parry in comparison to the druid
The druid, who is far more undergeared has: 839 more AP, 21% more crit (lol), and 6476 more armor.
So the warrior has far more survivability than the druid, but that druid is absolutely capable of tanking T4 content. And he’s not an absolute potato lol
Edit to add comparison between a BIS’ed out T4 warrior with a BIS’ed out T4 feral:
The warrior has:
23% more block chance with 310 SBV
17% more parry
The druid has:
1308 AP more
24% more crit
11143 more armor
385 more HP
and 13% more dodge
This is the thing that warrior shills often forget. Druid scaling is completely busted, all they really need is pre-raid BIS and they’ve already gone beyond what warrior can ever hope to achieve. It’s only downhill from there.
A warrior MT can totally work throughout the duration of TBC, but it’s a smoother ride if guilds relegate their single warrior to arms, and have a druid/paladin MT team.
I’m pretty sure that website is bugged.
Maybe I’m remembering wrong, but I’m pretty sure you can’t wear multiple Violet Signets.
Interesting point to make, I guess.
Yeah I’m not 100% but I believe there’s a way to do double rings with some sort of item restore shenanigans
the best way to summarize what I’m saying is that mitigation is only a piece of the puzzle. Overemphasizing survivability leads you into the same trap as the people at classic launch who were saying that fury prot DW tanking wasn’t going to be a thing, and that boomer tanking was the way to go.
We all saw how that worked out.
I mean, I don’t know what speedrunners will really do.
The issue of Prot Warrior wouldn’t exist in speedrunning discussions if not for exploits and Spell Reflect. But, until we actually see things live, I don’t think anyone can definitively say that Warrior will or will not be MTing in general in speedruns.
One thing I can say is that Warriors probably won’t be MTing Magtheridon or either of the 10 mans.
Granted, warriors will have no leg to stand on when it comes to aoe threat, but in regards to tank and spank? All I ever remember seeing, even in BT, were warriors dominating single target threat when played well. Pallys did get a massive boost with T5 gear for most things, but apart from burst threat, they didn’t beat the single target sustain of a warrior.
I suppose we will see, but I have my doubts that warriors lose on that front.
Yeah, that’s one area where I’m not 100% set currently one way or the other.
Looking at Paladin and Warrior EHP, without Ardent Defender or Holy Shield or Shield Block, Paladin and Warrior are pretty close.
Threat, I just don’t know to the exact degree if one is better than the other on ST.
