That’s my point, no one thought anything of it and then it suddenly became a very real issue.
That’s how conspiracies work.
No one knows how the WoW Community in an entirety feels, not even Blizzard as they haven’t once conducted any official survey on the matter yet the lead dev whose been AFK for the past 8 months came out and said “he got enough support to remove RDF” despite there being no actual support present at all.
It was never an issue anyone cared about, the general sentiment was “If you have nothing to hide ,why do you care?” That was what got promoted more than any threat about warrantless wiretaps.
The Snowden case blew it up on a cultural level where distrust from A LOT of people past the few started.
Are you freaking kidding? How old are you, rofl??? 15? There were literally congressional hearings in the early 2000’s for YEARS on the NSA’s data collection under the Patriot Act.
This will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with your body of work but you dont have any idea at all what you’re talking about. Stay down kid… Take the L
Everyone knew RDF was a popular feature in Wrath and a ton of people wanted it, there’s zero chance of them not knowing people wanted it. They pay attention to the media, they are tapped in. For them to ignore all of it and claim “We got enough people saying not to put it in” despite there not even being any credible mainstream sources for the anti-RDF movement shows that they purposefully removed it along with gold boosting to create an artifical leveling wall to sell boosts.
A lot of MMOs and games do this, it’s not just WoW.
They create a problem to sell you a solution.
They can easily enable RDF a phase or two from now, claim they listened to us the whole time and people will just move on after they reaped the full benefits of boosts.
The problem is that RDF is mutually exclusive. Lots of people like it. Lots of people also don’t like it. The dungeon finder tool was an attempt to bridge this gap.
If 51% of people dislike RDF it’s still the sensible decision to exclude it, even if that frustrates 49% of people. Especially if that 49% of people will, on the balance or probabilities, still pay a sub.
Out of curiosity, how many players who don’t like RDF and therefore are content with the status quo do you think are going on the internet to search for RDF related polls?
Do you think this is more or less likely to happen than somebody who likes RDF and is unhappy with its exclusion from the game?
You probably think you’re being clever but you’re only demonstrating your failure to understand my statement about the importance of sample as well as size.
If I took a poll in a McDonald’s on ‘How many people like McDonalds’ I’d probably havea survey with tens of thousands of respondents who overwhemingly like McDonalds. But it’s painfully obvious why such a survey would not be representative.
RDF being massively popular still doesn’t mean it’s a majority. Hypothetically, 49% of WoW players is tens if not hundreds of thousands - but still a minority nonetheless. Neither you nor I nor Blizzard know the breakdown.
RDF trivializes gear and it will always do so. That is the bottom line. I am sure the Zoomers will get their way by ICC and they be happy with their welfare epics. Till then I’ll just enjoy the reading the crying.
