Calling it Body 1 & Body 2 feels objectifying

Oh the horror, inclusion :exploding_head:

Oh gods no, they have to see a :man: icon instead of a :male_sign: icon…what ever will they do…

I sincerely thought for a moment there you were actually discussing it with me with a more open mind and I was no longer upset with you.

I see with your mocking now I was mistaken. I am sorry if I at all upset you or hurt your feelings. I’m done talking with you.

I’m not angry at inclusion, did you even read the post? I’m angry because there’s little doubt in my mind that Blizzard doesn’t give a crap about it sincerely and is just doing it to appeal to us to draw in more subscriptions.

Another blind poster who didn’t read anything.

I asked you 200 posts ago to provide one single example of this change being asked for, and you couldn’t provide one and admitted there were none. So how are you now going to claim this is just some stunt for subs when you yourself said NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS? You’re obviously just a troll and want to fight with people over this because your arguments are being disproven by your own posts, and change depending on who you’re trying to troll.

:man: :woman: < to be fair, these look 100% better then the scary robot looking things they are displaying.

I for one think the buttons should be abstract imagery, generated by AI, that changes everytime you enter the barber shop

Why abstract? it could simply be a randomly generated face for whatever race you’re playing.

woah woah woah now you’re just making too much sense here, I cant get behind the idea that these buttons exist solely to represent the character model - they need to be tied deeply to my personal identity and political beliefs as the player

Because they did indirectly. I said nobody asked for this SPECIFICALLY!

This one actually DID ask for it for more specifically dammit so take your “one single example” and get off my tail.:

I mean holy crap, would you open your god damn eyes!

And what did Blizzard do!? Remove gender entirely. That’s sure as hell not what I asked for either. I wanted more options, not for the ones we had to be taken away.

Excuse me, none of these are asking to remove gendered icons?

You’re proving yourself wrong here.

Players obviously are asking for more character customization, more body types, and more ways to represent different bodies that are more gender neutral then just a choice between “ripped orc dude or buff orc babe”

Where is the option for Body Type 3,4 and 5? That’s what those posts are asking for…did you even read them?

Removing gender identity from the body type selection process is step one. Step two is adding in additional body types. None of this is immoral, or objectifying, or politically motivated. It’s just effort towards better character customization.

Haven’t you kept up with the lore? Everythings robots, including Elune. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But here’s the thing. They removed “gender” but yet the “male” hairstyles are still not for the “female” model. The “female” model can’t have beards etc. That’s why I think it needs to still look gender specific, if we took away the gender labels, it should at least display the character in a form of male vs female, the current images just look weird, robotic, and the “male” looks like a huge buff chest, the “female” just looks tiny. They did a bad job with the images that replaced the gender symbols.

Ex.act.ly.

So why couldn’t this just be added in the customization instead of removing gender if that’s what it was all about? Are you still so dense to not see why I made this thread?

Agreed 110% they should make as many hair styles, colors, beards, and accessories be cross body type/race as possible. More character customization is a great thing! Hope this change was a step towards all that.

Why do you think it wont?

Removing a binary choice for body type allows for the expansion of body type choices  Are you going to come back and apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for making us your fictional villain behind some secret conspiracy plot to de-gender world of warcraft when they finally add Body Type 3?

I find it funny that the character creation screen keeps getting brought up as a deflecter for “only time seeing this”, when you can see it, in the Barbershop, as well.

This goes beyond just “character creation”.

And holy crap does that look ugly. Like who even designed those monster “body types?” Yuck

And what exactly does that change? Your screenshot shows how non-impactful this issue is. It use to be a button. Now it’s…still just a button… Click it and move on with your life just like you did when it said :male_sign: :female_sign: instead of :man: :woman:

Personally, IDC about the Body Type thing. I just find the whole thing hypocritical/pointless, at least on the Wrath servers, when my DK’s tooltips still use gender specific pronouns :woman_shrugging:

I don’t disagree it’s ugly, but it really doesn’t matter. The choice could be :pineapple: and :pizza: for all it really matters, it simply is a button to toggle between character models. Nothing else has changed.

It’s being worked on in dev to allow pronoun selection but it’s probably a long project given the amount of dialog that needs pronoun modifies added to it  dont envy the team on that project
