Calling it Body 1 & Body 2 feels objectifying

I don’t really care if they’re Male/Female, Body 1/Body 2, This/That, Orange/Apple. I don’t know why they changed it but I think that (most) of the outrage over the subject has been manufactured to stir the pot. I also believe that the LGBTQ+ community is taking a lot of heat for the change that wasn’t even asked for, so I’m like, meh, why care so much, you know?

I’m hoping that the change is to set up diverse bodies (Large, skinny, small, chubby, etc) without using those terms but that’s just a theory. I don’t think most people would have even noticed or cared without the wowhead article.

Clearly, certain terms matter…like I said, Wrath Classic kind of defeats the purpose and point of these Body Types…

Not by the megathread members no. We all know who did request this, unfortunately.

It’s not just the article, but the Beta and Wrath Classic, as well.

Well, yeah. They’re not going to change things in Classic WoW.

We do. You and I do. Most people do. But people still go into the megathread to make their silly comments about it because they can’t recognize the difference.

I just played Beta. There are far more things to be worried about than the character creation buttons. I disconnect every time I reset my talents, for example. We must have directed outrage, you see! Why use anger on this when we can use anger on other things? :stuck_out_tongue:

So, the icons in wrath is just body type, it doesn’t say one or two you just pick an icon. Like bathroom signs.

:male_sign: :female_sign:

These symbols here were like a 1960’s thing and reminds of the movie Austin Powers, which I thought was pretty funny.

Maybe the real reason Blizzard changed them.

There is an implication of hierarchy even when using an alphabetical system. Who has not heard of A tier, B tier, or being on the A list. Then there is the whole basic grading systems based on it. Depending on your frame of reference you may see valuation and hierarchy no matter what is used.

This is a case of creating an issue based off of your own experience. In WoW they use a number system for most character options. Using your logic everything listed as 1 is the default and everything else is an option. Does this make sense? This is really a case of being overly sensitive about a fairly neutral naming convention. And if we are being honest for a lot of races the feminine body option would be Body 1 for many races.

I just think most of the hate this topic receives would have never happened if the dev did not tweet about it at all.

I think most of us would had went meh if it was a silent change.

Not necessarily. There have been many changes to Classic WoW. If Wrath is going to do the Body Type thing, they should go all the way and not partly.

Unfortunately, that’s never going to change. Why focus on the minority, when the majority is on your side?

I agree there are far more bigger problems in this world to worry about than:

Like, the war going on.

Exactly, like the homeless. Come on, Feyrre, stop worrying about being disconnected. Go feed the homeless! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’ll have to check the Barbershop, as someone else did for the DF beta showing that they are, in fact, labeled “Body Type 1” and “Body Type 2”.

Regardless, the “he” and “she” pronouns are still locked into the corresponding “Body Type” that was “of the old”.

They’ve been in use for hundred of years, not a 1960’s “Austin Powers” thing at all.

I feel the new icons are much more confusing actually. Like you have Bulky and Slender. But somehow, Bulky is a guy and Slender is a gal. Like why not just use the iconography that’s been in game for 16 years and actually represents them as such, rather than vague new icons ?

Which why one cast had a numeric designation, the other alphabetic, allowing both to be first. Did you miss that entirely?

I mean, I guess at the end of the day, I’m pretty uncaring if they change it there so whatever works for them. But I’d be surprised if they touched that part of classic.

It’s very disheartening to see the attacks, that’s for sure.

I’m doing my best here! :joy:

Classic has already been changed since the WotLK pre-patch.

Oh please, it would have caused controversy whether tweeted or not by the devs.

They have, multiple times.

Non-RP perma Vanilla servers are CRZ. We (also) have an in-game item to preserve our WBs. We even have optional updated environment graphics.

BC Classic (at the time) had a one-time character boost. A mount with the boost. Both faction Pallies having faction specific Pally abilities.

Wrath Classic now has the Body Type thing but kept the pronouns. Still the one-time boost, and all that fun stuff.

Many changes, to how Classic is done/played.

I agree.

Same

I have some good news for you. If you’re a male, or you’re a female. If your characters are male, or female. A label in character creation is not going to take that away from you. No one can take it away from you. I don’t even believe anyone wants to try. You’re safe. Nothing has changed for you, or a majority of people.

Shows how little I play it.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

The problem, as stated multiple times, is that that argument cuts both ways.

If it’s so unimpactful and so unimportant, why did it need to be changed ? Why is there so much push back against anyone who dares to criticize this change.

Obviously, this is important to some people, especially people who will viscerally defend it. As such, it’s allowed to be important to others who oppose it too.

Equality, Diversity and all.

I play it (and been around since it was announced) so can give more accurate information on that. And, changes have been made to Classic since it’s inception despite the “#nochanges” movement.
