Button bloat and 20 button rotations makes picking up a new class extremely difficult

I put my main four abilities on W E R T.
beyond that I’ll use Q and Y for more if needed.
CD offensives on 2 3 4 if I need that many.
defensives on S D F G

6 is pretty much always;
/cast Loot-a-Rang
/petfollow

I made 5 my ‘interact with target’ for all specs. Really wish theyd make it so we can macro that with something else.

odds and ends are fit in around the same side of the KB where I can get them.

Yeeep we are one of the biggest if not most “bloated” at least for rsham roughly 40 buttons. With totems/cds an abilities for pvp anyway pve I could slim to 30ish

You should look into a tartarus or orb weaver. Most MMO players suggest it. That and a g600 mouse.

I fixed it for you.

Hard agree.
Outside of the whole precasting stuff which imo is just overkill. The whole opener listed here is just sort of stuff you would naturally want to do if you know how portal and tyrant work.
Of course youre rapdily spending soul shards for portal. Of course youre getting your heavy hitting demons out for tyrant.

If you break down anything into details its going to sound crazy. Try listing all the steps to open a bottle of water, it will make it sound like a mammoth task.

have you tried help/harm macros to get that down a few?

/use [@mouseover,nodead,help] Chain Heal; Chain Lightning

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the OP. Play the spec for a while and see what seems natural before you look up what the rotations are “supposed” to be and most of the time you end up pretty close if you’re halfway decent.

We like having a lot of options for abilities, thanks. There’s plenty of console games out there.

Demo lock aoe rotation above does have more button bloat but isn’t the all and mighty go to class talents. I don’t use Nether Portal and not because of button bloat, it’s because of the perfect timing required just for a few seconds of spike damage. I like consistent damage without penalty for missing the tiny window to summon Nether Portal along with all the other abilities when I’m trying to avoid boss mechanics and stay out of bad.

The play style as you can see isn’t for me but for other players they excel and that’s fine.

Having the perfect opener is in fact part of the “difficult to master” portion of that phrase.

Looks a lot more managable when you cut out the overly specific nature of getting that perfect opener:

And that’s with the spec using an above average amount of active talent choices over passives.

I dont use it because i think its dumb :stuck_out_tongue:
It just feels odd trying to spend shards as many times as possible, instead of, you know, how youre meant to use them.

(Also i mainly do world content so my talent points are better spent elsewhere)

The fact it has power siphon and not tyrant bothers me :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s a separate section for cooldown usage

I would have thought felgaurd would fall under that due to its long cd, but yeah that makes sense

I would agree with you if the spells/rotations were intuitive and the floor and ceiling for dps was a little tighter (healing, tanking as well).

New players aren’t flooding in and the few that I’ve convinced to play don’t stick around because of the hyper competitive end game and the disparity between knowing and not knowing your 20 button non-intuitive opener is huge.

The experience for new and sub-par players isn’t a good one at all. Sure, you should be able to distinguish yourself if you’ve mastered your class, but we all know where the game is at and where it’s going.

Modernize your setup. A must have now a days is an MMO mouse.

I personally use the Razer Naga Pro with a Razer Tartarus (macro for fps and mmo)
i use these both in unity for my long fingered arthritis, yay for being tall and skinny with bone issues
Nab a UI addon like Elvui

Macro 2 action bars.

Your normal 1 to =
Shift 1 to =
Control 1 to =

That allows you to have 36 buttons free for rotations and quick access. I personally use Default and Shift for my main rotations as my pinkie naturally rests in that area so i just need to slightly move my finger to hit shift. I’ve found this has made my response time 10x faster and as a result my damage and healing output has increased as well.

If you’re slow to tab for healing I personally use an addon called Clique which lets me highlight namebars and heal without clicking names. Which also allows me to macro heals on mouseover. So I 100% suggest an MMO mouse.

It’s cause they look on the forums or prob see it on Twitter with someone suggesting they bring back spells from back on the day and so here we are.

Like alot of things lately that should’ve stayed “back in the day”.

skill issue

Allow me to translate the booster speak:

"I dONt WaNt To TaKe ThE tImE tO lEaRn My ClAsS. "

There’s no such thing as button bloat, just lack of motivation, drive and a crippling need for instant gratification.

Emberpawz. We meet again.

I mean. There should be a learning curve when playing a new class, you shouldnt walk in an expert or be preforming it flawlessly right off the bat.

Also you are copy and pasting the nether portal opener from wowhead which appears to be the most complex.

Your opener without that is mich more simple, 10 steps and 8 buttons. Which isnt bad.

Start out easy. Get a feel for how the opener works in its simplest form. Once you understand that look at the more complex ones.

You dont need to be an expert day 1.
