I put my main four abilities on W E R T.
beyond that I’ll use Q and Y for more if needed.
CD offensives on 2 3 4 if I need that many.
defensives on S D F G
6 is pretty much always;
/cast Loot-a-Rang
/petfollow
I made 5 my ‘interact with target’ for all specs. Really wish theyd make it so we can macro that with something else.
odds and ends are fit in around the same side of the KB where I can get them.
Yeeep we are one of the biggest if not most “bloated” at least for rsham roughly 40 buttons. With totems/cds an abilities for pvp anyway pve I could slim to 30ish
Hard agree.
Outside of the whole precasting stuff which imo is just overkill. The whole opener listed here is just sort of stuff you would naturally want to do if you know how portal and tyrant work.
Of course youre rapdily spending soul shards for portal. Of course youre getting your heavy hitting demons out for tyrant.
If you break down anything into details its going to sound crazy. Try listing all the steps to open a bottle of water, it will make it sound like a mammoth task.
Exactly what I was thinking when I read the OP. Play the spec for a while and see what seems natural before you look up what the rotations are “supposed” to be and most of the time you end up pretty close if you’re halfway decent.
We like having a lot of options for abilities, thanks. There’s plenty of console games out there.
Demo lock aoe rotation above does have more button bloat but isn’t the all and mighty go to class talents. I don’t use Nether Portal and not because of button bloat, it’s because of the perfect timing required just for a few seconds of spike damage. I like consistent damage without penalty for missing the tiny window to summon Nether Portal along with all the other abilities when I’m trying to avoid boss mechanics and stay out of bad.
The play style as you can see isn’t for me but for other players they excel and that’s fine.
I dont use it because i think its dumb
It just feels odd trying to spend shards as many times as possible, instead of, you know, how youre meant to use them.
(Also i mainly do world content so my talent points are better spent elsewhere)
I would agree with you if the spells/rotations were intuitive and the floor and ceiling for dps was a little tighter (healing, tanking as well).
New players aren’t flooding in and the few that I’ve convinced to play don’t stick around because of the hyper competitive end game and the disparity between knowing and not knowing your 20 button non-intuitive opener is huge.
The experience for new and sub-par players isn’t a good one at all. Sure, you should be able to distinguish yourself if you’ve mastered your class, but we all know where the game is at and where it’s going.
Modernize your setup. A must have now a days is an MMO mouse.
I personally use the Razer Naga Pro with a Razer Tartarus (macro for fps and mmo) i use these both in unity for my long fingered arthritis, yay for being tall and skinny with bone issues
Nab a UI addon like Elvui
Macro 2 action bars.
Your normal 1 to =
Shift 1 to =
Control 1 to =
That allows you to have 36 buttons free for rotations and quick access. I personally use Default and Shift for my main rotations as my pinkie naturally rests in that area so i just need to slightly move my finger to hit shift. I’ve found this has made my response time 10x faster and as a result my damage and healing output has increased as well.
If you’re slow to tab for healing I personally use an addon called Clique which lets me highlight namebars and heal without clicking names. Which also allows me to macro heals on mouseover. So I 100% suggest an MMO mouse.
