Button bloat and 20 button rotations makes picking up a new class extremely difficult

I’ve been playing my main for 15+ years. I know all the abilities and the rotation. No problem. But I recently felt compelled to try another class.

So I decided to try out a warlock. I cant get my head around the rotation. I jumped on wowhead and this is how they described it

Opener Rotation

  1. Precast Power Siphon - enabled through having Inner Demons spawning Imps prepull
  2. Precast Shadow Bolt
  3. Shadow Bolt
  4. Nether Portal
  5. Soulburn
  6. Grimoire: Felguard
  7. Summon Vilefiend
  8. Demonbolt
  9. Call Dreadstalkers
  10. Demonbolt
  11. Hand of Gul’dan
  12. Any Racial or Trinkets available
  13. Summon Demonic Tyrant with 5s remaining on Nether Portal
  14. Hand of Gul’dan
  15. Hand of Gul’dan
  16. Demonic Strength
  17. If you have/get any Demonic Core procs use them

17 button opener. Blizzard, what ever happened with “easy to learn, difficult to master”?

Imagine if you gave the game to your mother or father, would they be able to understand this? If not, then you’ve strayed from your path.

Here is what I recommend, delete half of all player abilities. Have a rule where a rotation is 7 buttons maximum. Make the difficulty come from boss and world mechanics, not from unwieldy rotations that make no sense and massive button bloat

14 button* you repeat spells there, also there are a few things you can narrow that with macros.

Unless you are counting same spells as another button in this case classic warlocks have a hell of a more rotation then this.

yes button bloat is a problem in modern wow. everything has become a problem for modern wow.

Just be a Fury Warrior.

You get two cooldowns that also trigger your OTHER cooldown, you max out a bar and hit something a bunch which also buffs you.

It’s pretty sweet.

You don’t even need to memorise that per-se. Just understand the concept of the spec you’ve chosen and best play to it’s strength.

Aka in yours generate free resources in advance, summon your demons and then summon your tyrant.

Then do your core rotation

My parents don’t play games at all but my friends father would know this even though he’s in his early 50s. He’d get it in a heartbeat

boo hoo. stop getting stuff nerfed for those who play PC games, not consoles. i dont want wow to turn into diablo.

you don’t NEED to have 20 button rotations. if you have problems remembering things, try picking more passives.

Pro-Tip, put talents in more passive abilities.

Are you competing to be rank 1?

You can really tell the people that started playing in Legion.

It takes a while to bind all the potential talents, especially if you pvp and want focus/teammate stuff, but for the most part there aren’t too many unapproachable specs. Maybe Shaman has a lot of buttons?

Demo lock is definitely not for a beginner. Ive been playing lock for like 12 years and i still dont fully understand that spec. Go destro to start

If you want less buttons then Diablo 4 is there waiting for you.

There is not ONE class that has a 20 button rotation.

Damn wow rotations starting to look like gw2

I just try to choose as many passives as possible and then spam the crap out of the buttons I do have. This is why I don’t raid. Also, I’m finding out from a lot of feedback I get here and other places, that I’m too stupid or I shouldn’t be playing if I can’t ‘twitch’ and don’t understand multiple button rotations with multiple boss scenarios and that I should just give up and not try to have fun because I ruin the game for the rest of them. This is just a game right? Right? Yeah, not to a lot of players who play now. This game has become all based upon the elite raiders regardless of how much they complain about how ‘easy’ this game has become. It’s pure craziness.

This is because of sims. Sims now show the ideal opening rotation to maximize DPS. That’s where a lot of that is coming from.

Also, most of these theorycrafting website have an easy mode for people that want to keep it simple. Here’s the easy mode rotation for demo:

  1. Cast Guillotine Icon Guillotine on cooldown.
  2. Cast Call Dreadstalkers Icon Call Dreadstalkers whenever available.
  3. Cast Hand of Gul'dan Icon Hand of Gul’dan if you have 4-5 Soul Shards.
  4. Cast Demonbolt Icon Demonbolt if you have 2+ stacks of Demonic Core Icon Demonic Core.
  5. Cast Soul Strike Icon Soul Strike whenever available.
  6. Cast Hand of Gul'dan Icon Hand of Gul’dan with 3 Soul Shards.
  7. Cast Shadow Bolt Icon Shadow Bolt to generate Soul Shards.

There you go, much simpler.

Do demonbolt and slam cooldowns after getting souls?

Don’t worry, people whom haven’t done anything harder than normal will insist 40 keybinds is fine, and insist the game is actually easy enough already.

passive talents wherever you can.
No way Im using all those, lol.
passive and I fire off whatever is off CD that looks good. I seem to do just fine with destruction lock, Unholy DK and BM hunter doing it that way.

then isnt the literal point here that if its too hard to handle the class you aint ready for harder content anyway? lol
