see the problem is you’re not “picking up a new class” at this point, but trying to skip straight to “mastering a new class.” Of course it’s going to be difficult, do you try to learn guitar by immediately looking up dragonforce tabs too?
Shhh people gotta pretend videogames are hard.
Oh lord this again. Classes are in a good state right now. We really don’t need another wod.
Na. Just try stance dancing as a warrior in WoTLK if you think you have it difficult with your setup you mentioned there.
Brewmaster is a pain to play, with about 25+ spells to cast during a fight and that’s not including trinkets or on-use item effects like the Rashok weapon.
Certain classes and certain specs require a deft hand. Warlocks are great - but if a player finds Demo too complicated, then swap to Destro which is about 4 buttons effectively.
Some people enjoy complexity and I think it adds flavour to the game to have some classess/specs that aren’t snoozefests. I mean, I love my hunters but BM…gawd, I can almost play it out in the world while making a nice cup of capuccino.
If a new player dives head first into a difficult class or spec, they have options. They can use those choices, but what you suggest deprives choices from others.
So I’d say a big negative on that idea.
You talked about bloat but your actual problem is long rotations .
You can pick one ,optimization or Demon hunter
That demo opener isnt actually all that complex.
Basically just use nether portal, bring out your demons and cast hand of guldan to power the portal, then bring out your tyrant.
I dunno, I feel like if Demo is to much button pressing you can always fall back on Destro or Afflic which are enjoying another strong raid tier at the cost of 2/3 less button pushing.
Last couple patches Warlocks seem to have all 3 specs capable in the top 1/3 on a majority of fights while a lot of the multi dps specs are lucky to even have 1 mid pack…
Destro warlock is pretty easy. Just build up for those sweet chaos bolts. Otherwise like any other class, go with what’s procing.
I recently tried Elemental Shaman and was at first confused, then I just accepted when it told me that my Lava burst is now instant, or my earth shock is ready, or my earth shock has been refunded and is ready again, or my next 2 lighting bolts will double cast. Yay for easy.
It’s still a thing. There are “easy mode” rotations that take a lot of passive talents to avoid button bloat, and there are “try hard” rotations that try to squeeze every bit of damage possible out of the class. You just happend to post the “try hard” version of the rotation that involves pre-casting and all the min-max cooldown usage.
- Cast Guillotine on cooldown.
- Cast Call Dreadstalkers whenever available.
- Cast Hand of Gul’dan if you have 4-5 Soul Shards.
- Cast Demonbolt if you have 2+ stacks of Demonic Core Icon Demonic Core.
- Cast Soul Strike whenever available.
- Cast Hand of Gul’dan with 3 Soul Shards.
- Cast Shadow Bolt to generate Soul Shards.
That’s the “easy mode” rotation. There are 7 priorities, but it only requires 6 buttons. I copied it straight from the IcyVeins “easy mode” section for Demonology Warlocks.
Blizzard has done this before… twice I think. I’ve never seen a positive response from the community regarding the mass-removal of spells.
Just be a hunter. 1 cooldown to get more charges to spend. then hit the 3 buttons (4 really because different for single target and AOE) and be a winner!
Figure most of us arent going to be playing high end M+ anyway, so it doesnt matter if we have capped out DPS beyond squeezing out another point of damage.
So ‘easy’, yeah, is pretty much just putting all the offensives in finger reach and firing off whatever is off cooldown.
Ive had a bit more trouble getting demonology to work as well as destruction doing it like that, but yeah, just pick the spec thats easier to play if its a problem.
For those M+ players, they likely do whats necessary to get every drop of blood out of the DPS meter and dont complain about it because they know going in thats their goal.
For us more casual players, just bang the keys. It’ll be ok, lol.
You’re thinking about your rotation incorrectly. Rather than looking at what you’re pressing, it’s better to think about why you are pressing it.
If you understand your class mechanics first, then contextualize that with the buttons you press throughout an encounter you’ll basically be able to pick up and play any class in the game.
Not everything in life is easy to learn. Nor should it be.
This guy gets it. Most of the complainers here just want to press 4 buttons for loot. Rather than have an engaging combat experience
I have never had an issue with this personally until I picked up my Ele Shaman yesterday and leveled it and realized that I can’t put all the binds I need on 5 extra keys on the left of my keyboard, 1-5, F, T, alt+1, all the mouse buttons on the g604, so that’s another like 8 or 9, and whatever else I’m forgetting right now. Kind of crazy.
I think the ret paladin rework is an amazing example of what a spec should be. That spec has amazing flow now.
I prefer having tons of buttons, some of which I may not press as often or as actively, over a static 1-2-3 combo with 2~3 resource-based buttons I press at exactly 2 minute intervals.
I like feeling like I have tons of ways to approach situations, and it provides an RPG flavor akin to playing good ol’ D&D (or games based on D&D).
Honestly the people complaining about button bloat, could an would learn their rotation by the time they hit max level.
However this seems to be a booster problem only. Hell I actively have 30-40 consistent buttons as Rsham depending on content. Has never been an issue for me.
What has been an issue is getting all my abilities for support reworked or taken away for other specs. So no Im good I dont wanna lose half of my stuff thanks.
If you want ez mode roll a damn BM hunter or Fury Warrior/Ret Paladin an go zug zug.
