But like what’s the point of getting rid of strider water walking?

If it’s something I understand, I try, but quite often fail to write in a manner that can be understood… you should see some of my notebooks of research. Another side effect unfortunately, but none of that is game related, so TLDR: if something doesn’t make sense as written, feel free quote and be all

After rereading your replies I thought that might be where our disconnect was.

And also limit our access to them in later content. There is no saying that the BFA equipment will work in the next expansion. So we could easily have “Pathfinder 0.5” where we have to complete a certain amount of content to regain the use of equipment for the new xpac areas.

Yup.

Strider is only the best mount when crossing water. If you’re too lazy to pick another mount because you might need to cross water at some point, that’s on you.

If you don’t have the water-strider, don’t get it. It takes about 18 days, it can only be done in Pandaria, and you have to go back every day.

And 2 days from now it will be nerfed. So, like, don’t do it.

Yeah, because that’s how it works.

They’re not getting rid of it, you can still use the strider.

Mother Azeroth has her eyes upon you.

If blizzard suddenly came out and said that after 9.0 launches mount equipment will no longer function and will be removed, I would be ecstatic. Especially if they decide to keep water striders as a non water walking mount

Right now you can only use the strider for water walking. This change lets you put water walking on ANY mount that you have.

Just like we do now, you will be able to switch to your water walking mount when you need it, and use any other mount at any other time.

It’s not a choice of water walking vs anti-daze. You have more than 1 mount in your collection, yes?

I don’t understand the push back on this, it feels like people are complaining just to have something to complain about.

You’re mistaken. The equipment goes on you, not your mount. There are multiple items, pick one.

Yes it is.

because it gives me a reason to use my thematic and cool waterwalking abilities on classes that have it.

oh wait.

The equipment system could easily have given us more choice WITHOUT NERFING THE STRIDER.

Rather than confining water-walking to 2 mounts locked behind old grinds, it can now be applied to all of your mounts at once with simple mount eq.

Though there is a tiny handful of grousers who would have you believe that water-walking is a core game mechanic that you are 100% crippled without, it really isn’t.

Then it wouldn’t be a choice, as most everyone who already has a strider would just stick with it.

Yes, as it’d kind of defeat the purpose of the new system.

From that it sounds like the ITEM is bind on account, but that you can have DIFFERENT things for different characters (since the blue said “THAT” character’s…)

Regarding keeping it for the strider:

It wasn’t just that it would make it a superior mount, since it would have native water walking and you could use the other equipment, but rather that when they checked they found an inordinate amount of people using the water strider; It was the most used mount, in an expansion like Legion/BFA before flying is added.

So it actually kind of irked them, that it was the most used mount. So apart from this being a long time request, on the forums (water walking becoming equipment, so any mount could water walk) they saw putting this in as a way to get people to use other mounts. So leaving the ability as native, on the strider, would not change things enough for them.

So the best thing possible, for all of us to do, would be:

To still only use that water strider mount, if you have one (especially in a new expansion, pre flying.) This was one of the things they looked at, when deciding to put in the change. So the best way to say, “You did something wrong”, would be if we all still just used the water strider.

Why get rid of the Striders water walking? Simple answer is this, Blizzard wouldn’t be able sell Water Walking equipment in game to the people who have the Strider, unless they wanted water walking on a different mount

“Old system bad because it would affect the inferior new system.”

Don’t use logic around here!

Yes, it has been done this way for awhile. Now mount eq and abilities are being rolled into that.
